What to do when your favorite resort is booked?

Just curious, if this has happened to you, what have you done? Do you book somewhere else and miss your favorite resort? Do you book and check later on if it becomes available? Has this happened and you found a new love for a different resort?

Last year we could not get into POFQ so we went to POR. Turns out that it was a welcome change and we enjoyed it. It's all magical!

I'd try something new as well You could book a different resort so you are guaranteed a place to stay then keep checking for your go to fave to open up and switch if it does.

book something else so you get any discounts or free donong that is offered and then wait and call we do it every year and change things around until we get what we want.

I'm just asking out of curiosity. We don't even have the date of next trip picked yet, probably May 2013.
