So, I made my ADRs yesterday and booked Mama Melrose for our DHS night. But after reading on here it sounds like it is really bad!!! :scared1: It is not a Fantasmic night, so we do not have to have the package. Should we stay in the park and eat or venture out to one of the nearby resorts? :confused3 I was looking at all the places in DHS and also Cape May Cafe. Please help!!!

If you choose other, please tell me where you recommend. Thanks!

It is all personal pref, my husband and I both like the food at MR. We eat have everytime we go to DW. You can't go by what everyone says, they may not like things you like.:thumbsup2

Well, I've heard mixed reviews on Mama Melrose but we do have an ADR to give it a try in a couple of weeks. I doubt it's terrible, just given how many great restaurants DW has, I don't get the impression it falls into the "great" catagory!!

We've tried 50's & Sci-Fi & again, they are OK but nothing to get too excited about either. I do think though that if you haven't tried any of these places before, you might be pleasantly surprised....it does depend on your family tastes.

One other you might think to try is Captains Grill at Yacht Club. It's within walking distance to DHS or a short boat ride & it seems to get some pretty good reviews from those who eat there, although admittedly, it does not seem to be too well known.

Anyway, just a thought.

Thank you. I try to look at it that way. So many places get mixed reviews on here and it makes this ADR thing so confusing. It is a new place for us and the menu doesn't look bad. I just keep going back and forth.

I voted for Mama Melrose, we dined there on the Fantasmic Pkg last Sept. & while it wasn't the best meal of our trip, it was still good food. Try the Sangria, it's really tasty.

I looked at Captains Grille and thought it looked good too. I was just wondering if it truly is walking distance. We have 2 little ones and do not want to have to cross busy streets. I would like to check out the Christmas decorations at BWI while we're there. How far is BWI from Y&BC?

I woudn't sweat it!! We booked the H&V Fantasmic pkg ourselves. People have said some pretty bad things about it on here, but I don't really care. I am one of those people that is going to judge it for myself. My traveling demographic is quite different too. 12 of us, 6 adults and 6 children, 2 of the kids are 3 yrs old. We booked mostly all buffets for our stay. I LOVE thinking that we can just sit down and then go get our food...no waiting for it to be cooked, prepared, etc. AND that the kids can have a lot of choices for their meals.

Do what is right for YOU!!! And most of all, enjoy it!!;)

Oh, no! There's no busy streets at all....as you leave DHS, there is a walking path that takes you right there. Not sure of exact distance, maybe 20 min walk or so. Pretty much next door to BWI. And if you dont' want to walk, there is a boat!

Pardon my ignorance. We have never been to Y&BC or BWI. I would love to stay there but with 3 kids we try to do things on a budget.

That does not sound like a bad walk at all. I will run that one by DH and see what he thinks. Their menu looks good and that would give us a break from DHS and we could check out the decorations. Thanks!!!

The walk to YC from DHS is a pleasant walk on a quiet path - no streets to cross at all. It is probably 25 - 30 minutes to the YC side of Crescent Lake. We have done it many times in the past. You can also take a boat, but unless the boat is loading as you get there, it is often quicker to walk.
You will be going right past the Boardwalk as you head to the YC. The BWI would be a 10 minute or so walk back towards DHS after your dinner.
Have a great trip.

I voted for MM why not try it? We have an ADR there in a couple of wks, Ive learned with all WDW restaurants to try them and make my own opinion!
