What to do, what to do?

I was all gung-ho about making reservations at CR for Sept. '08, but I just received a quote comparing CR and WL and WL looks a bit less expensive than CR.
The main reason I wanted to tay in CR was for the monorail. Our favorite parks are MK and Epcot and having the monorail right there would be so easy! After reading the WL information thread, however, that resort looks very appealing to me.
I guess I'm just wondering (for those of you who have stayed at CR and/or WL), which one do you prefer? Which one is more convenient? Which one did you enjoy more?

It has been quite a while since I stayed at the CR - I was at the WL a couple of years ago and it was beautiful - I don't think that you would be disappointed with the WL.

I fell in love with the WL this summer....Have stayed at the Poly and the CR and WL is my favorite of them all!

Its transport is pretty good too. Take a boat to the CR to catch the monorail if you like or a boat to the MK. And of course the buses are good too.

Cheers,
josh

It was neat staying the CR and having access to the monorail, but I was disappointed in the rooms (they have since been re-done, though). They weren't much bigger or wowing than the WL.

I prefer the WL (I just wish it had the monorail attached to it). You can catch a boat from the WL over to the CR, though, and jump on the monorail if you want a bit of a change.

Something else to consider--there will be construction going on at CR for a few more years, as they're building a new (allegedly) DVC building where the north wing once was.

Anything has GOT to be better than the WL. Rooms are the smallest of a deluxe, transportation is a nightmare and it is highly overrated. I'd go with the Contemporary in a heartbeat.

We found WL to be more appealing than the Contemporary. Their rooms, though, are smaller than the Poly, GF or CR so keep that in mind. We found transportation to be excellent. Longest wait was for DTD but that seems to be the case at all resorts we stay at. My fav resort is YC but WL is the fav of my DS and DH. AKL runs a close second for them but again rooms there are similar in size to WL. We just returned from our second stay there ... about a week ago.

Well, I would go with the CR, since your favorite parks are just a monorail ride away! Who wants to wait for a boat, get on the boat, wait for everyone else to get on the boat and situated, ride the boat across the water, get off the boat, go find the monorail, wait for the monorail? Just my opinion. :) I stayed at the CR once, and I really liked it!

I'm in the same boat as you. We have only stayed at the WL and are truly in love with it. This year though, we decided that when we book for next fall we're going to try a new resort. CR seems the likely candidate because of the monorail. My DH put it to me best.....How much time will we really be spending in the room and if we don't like it, we just will make sure not to book it again. Hope your choice makes your wonderfully happy! Your in Disney World, how couldn't it????

Keep in mind with the monorail (rather catching it from CR or boating over to CR and catching it), you have to stand in line and wait for the monorail to arrive at CR, wait for people to unload, wait for people to load, go to TTC, wait for people to unload, wait for people to load, go to POLY, wait for people to unload, wait for people to load, go to GF, wait for people to unload, wait for people to load, then go to MK and unload. At least on the way back, CR is the first stop. If you choose CR, it might be easier/faster to walk to MK and take the monorail back.

CL rooms are way larger than WL rooms! WL rooms are 344 sq ft and CR rooms are 436 sq ft at the least :)

The old CR room colors were pretty wild and would not appeal to everyone - not me LOL.

Sometimes other resorts just cannot live up to our favorite - which is great as many of us have a resort that feels like home. :)

Hands down, we would choose the CR for both the convenience and being able to enjoy room service while watching the fireworks.:thumbsup2

That's true, I forgot about that.:flower3:

I had looked at CR and WL when I decided to change from a moderate to a Deluxe for our 2008 trip. We've never stayed Deluxe before.

I finally decided on Garden Wing, Garden View at CR because of the monorail and the ability to walk to MK. We will be primarily at Epcot and MK so I felt it would be more convenient. We are also only staying for 4 days that trip.

I found out when I confessed to my husband that I'd booked CR (I was supposed to book POFQ) that he had always wanted to stay at CR and he doesn't like the boats so WL wouldn't have been that good for us.

Since your 2 favorite parks are Epcot and MK, I'd pick CR.

I would stick with the Contemporary. I love being able to walk to the MK and taking the monorail to Epcot. The WL's transportation is terrible.
