What to do, what to do?? Which option would you choose?

On our non-EMH MK day, I made ADRs for both Crystal Palace breakfast and dinner. Can't decide which one to keep. Also have a lunch ADR for Plaza. OK, so we will definitely NOT do 3 TS meals in one day, so one of these has to be dropped. What we are torn about is that we went to Crystal Palace dinner on our last trip and we LOVED the food! My kids (two boys, ages 3 and 5) love the Winnie the Pooh characters, so it is a must for them too. However, we have not been to CP breakfast and hear wonderful things about it (especially puffed french toast...which I make at home occasionally anyway).

What concerns me about doing the breakfast is......while I would love to be in MK when it is nearly empty in the morning, we also love Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and I don't know how I (or any of us) will feel if I ride this after such a large meal (I tend to eat a lot at breakfast buffets). But everyone says wonderful things about CP breakfast and it would be great to experience it at least once. And to do something new.

We are already going to the castle for dinner on our other MK day, so we will not go to breakfast there in addition.

An alternative to the CP dinner would be to go to a monorail resort TS dinner and then head back to MK for the evening. We are staying at BWV, and are already trying some TS in that area (B&C, Captain's Grille, Cape May Clambake). In the MK resort area, we already have ADRs at Chef Mickey's, WCC, Kona (all for dinner). We have been to 1900 park Fare at GF and didn't care for the dinner but will be doing breakfast there on this trip. We will also have the car with us, so transportation is not an issue if there is really a place more out of the way you think we should try (we've already been to Boma and while we loved it, won't be returning due to heartburn issues...our own issues, NOT the fault of the restaurant...wish we didn't have those issues, we would return in a heartbeat!).

What would you do if you were me? Would you switch to another resort TS and do the CP breakfast? Which of the following options would you choose?

1. CP breakfast, cancel Plaza lunch, TS dinner at a resort (you suggest the resort restaurant)

2. CP breakfast, cancel Plaza lunch, Signature dinner at a resort (you suggest the restaurant)

3. Plaza lunch and CP dinner

Also, if you choose the CP breakfast, what would you do about the rides? Just maybe get a FP for BTMRR and ride it a little later in the morning?

Thanks in advance!

I would go with option 1. And I would choose 'Ohana for TS at a Monorail Resort. If you eat to heavy at CP breakfast, grab a FP.

I was going to say the same thing!!

I also want to say that you aren't helping MY dilemma by your post, though....LOL....I've had a terrible time deciding whether to do breakfast or dinner at CP during our upcoming trip. We did lunch there last time and we really loved the food!! But thought we'd do something different and try breakfast first thing since it gets such great reviews, yet I want to eat inside the park on our MVMCP day so dinner at CP makes total sense. Just when I decided to go with the breakfast, and just eat counter service on MVMCP day, you go and say how you loooved the dinner there. ugh. Maybe we should just do both?! Isn't this fun?!:goodvibes

Yes, it's crazy!!!! :lmao:

We have looked at the menu for Ohana over and over and we were debating whether to go there or to Kona and we are actually going to Kona for dinner the night before we go to MK. I actually had started a thread about that too, how we were in a dilemma on Kona vs. Ohana! :lmao:

The menu at Ohana just wasn't that appealing. We already have quite a few entertaining meals too, so we kept it more low-key at Kona. What about going to a signature like Cali Grill? Or too much for my kids since they're only 3 and 5? Maybe The Wave...hmm...we had plans to go there with our friends but then the plans changed. Maybe we should go there for dinner instead of CP.

Option 1.

Two weeks ago we did 8:05 reservations for Crystal Palace. Ate a full, wonderful breakfast. Left there shortly after 9am. Went to Pirates of the Caribbean and rode that (5 min wait). And then went right to Big Thunder Mountain with a 10 min wait. It wasn't a problem at all with the food in me. Go with the breakfast and enjoy!

I would choose option 3. I love The Plaza for lunch and Crystal Palace for dinner. None of us are big breakfast eaters and would rather hit the ground running than waste time on a sit-down meal 1st thing in the morning. Good luck with your decision!:goodvibes

Another option here -

How about Late breakfast at CP? Then you can go ride your fave rides at rope drop, then go to breakfast around 10:30, which will fill you up for lunch, too, then do a dinner (maybe GF Cafe.) I have heard that if you have a late enough breakfast reservation, you can be there for the changeover for lunch and try some of that food, too.

That is a good idea! Stating the obvious I guess, but I never thought about that. I remember a particular trip down Splash Mountain a whole hour after CP .... felt like I was going to sink the boat! :scared1:

I second this choice. I have never eaten at Plaza but my reasons are:
  1. You don't waste your early entry into the park sitting and eating (unless it is a pre-opening ressie)
  2. The lunch offers a break INSIDE the park and you have to stop and eat anyway.
  3. By eating dinner in the park (and of course I agree CP is a keeper ) if you are ready to leave afterwards, it is one bus trip and straight to your resort. But if you are still up to doing a bit more, you are still there and have this option too, after having had a break and a great meal.

Thanks everyone for the input! OK, DH and I sat down and he decided that he would like to try Sanaa at AKV Kidani. He loves Indian food, and the kids can see the animals after we eat. There are some foods on the menu that also look appealing to me, which helps. And their children's menu offers plenty for our little ones. So, what I did was moved the Kona dinner ADR to the MK day, so we can eat dinner in the MK resort area and then head back to the park. I kept Crystal Palace breakfast at 8:05AM (before park opening), and canceled the dinner there. We were originally going to Captain's Grille on our DHS day and Kona on our off day. Now we are going to Sanaa on our DHS day (not returning to that park in the evening anyway), and Captain's Grille on the off day. Everything is all set, and I cancelled all the other ADRs so I wouldn't have duplicates.

Thanks everyone for the input! I will just wait a little bit to ride BTMRR! Last summer when we went to Sesame Place, we ate the character dinner buffet, then an hour later my son wanted me to go on the roller coaster with him (definitely a bigger drop than BTMRR...I don't remember much of a drop on BTMRR). I was fine and I had eaten A LOT!!!

Sounds good. Is that for dinner? Even better that you and your DH decided together! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: See now it wasn't me that I was worried about - it was the poor souls in front of me .... particularly when we were in the downhill position  I was worried that they might get a bit more magic than they bargained for and I aint talking pixie dust, people :rolleyes1

Yes, we are going to Sanaa for dinner. DH loves Indian food so it was a no-brainer for him. I have only had Tandoori chicken and it was on a cruise...so not sure how "authentic" it was. But I loved it! I saw that they have tandoori chicken, and also lamb or shrimp on their menu, so I will probably order one of those. I'm not really into curry and I don't like overly spicy things. DH LOVES spicy food but he gets heartburn easily...so do I. We both got heartburn after eating at Boma which was a shame because we really enjoyed dinner there, from the food to the service everything was so good. The food just didn't like us, I guess it was the new spices. I hope Sanaa is OK for us...but I scheduled it so we have the following day off from the parks, and we will just be relaxing at the resort, maybe going to DTD, just being spontaneous for once! So if we have to rest a little extra in the villa, it will be fine!

Why not do the CP for breakfast and The Plaza for "linner" around 4? That way you wouldn't have to leave the park and could hit both restaurants.

Sounds like you have already made a decision, so you may not want any suggestions! But have you considered keeping the Crystal Palace early breakfast and having dinner at the Plaza? That way you can stay in the park longer, and you have plenty of time to digest a big morning meal before dinner!

That said, your plan looks wonderful, too. I have heard consistently great things about Sanaa.

Have fun!

How about a late-seating breakfast at CP? Treat it as "brunch" so you can do some rides first thing, then have a break for a leisurely meal around 10:30 or 10:45? Then you could cancel your Plaza lunch, and still have a TS dinner, if you want.

I never do more than one TS meal per day, however - to me, it eats into my time too much, and I find myself running from reservation to reservation and getting stressed out. In fact, I often don't even do one TS per day - maybe one every other day. There are lots of good CS options, and it saves both time and money.

Of all the restaurants we booked, the Plaza is the one that I am willing to cancel in a heartbeat for something that looks better and more unique. I would much rather go to Kona than Plaza for dinner. Plaza was just going to be a nice relaxing lunch if we weren't doing a TS breakfast.

We always take a break in the afternoon from the park, so we weren't planning to stay in the park all the way until dinner anyway. Even when we were planning on CP dinner, we planned to leave and then return to the park. We did this last time and it worked out great, and we felt very refreshed and relaxed when we returned. It's good for the boys also!

I have read good things about Sanaa also!
