What to do - Travel Question

We've decided that we will be visting DLP again next March for DDs 6th Birthday. Despite orginally planning to stay in the DLH, we've now had to downscale our plan slightly as it's 3 wks before my wedding!

So, we've decided to go back to the Cheyenne and are keen to get the hotel booked so that we can take advantage of the 2nights free offer.

This leads me to my current dilema, I would love to get direct Eurostar - but with the seats for this date not being released until the end of the year, I'm not sure whether to risk it and just book the hotel now and do the travel later in the year.

Or, should we fly instead, which I can book now? I've only ever flown to DLP once before and didn't find it particularly enjoyable with all the transfers - but the times of the flights means we could get a late afternoon flight on the Saturday, stay off-site this night and then be ready to start in the magic on Sunday morning. We can also get a flight home at about 8pm so would have a near enough full day then, too.

Well if money is tight, don't forget that if you fly your going to have the extra travel expenses to/from the airport. It maybe though that flying may still be cheaper even with the factoring in of those costs.

I myself am lazy however..lol I personally have only and will probably only ever go via eurostar. Once your on it's just so much less hassle. it stops right in the middle of the park and if you have disney Express, all you have to do is goto the top floor, drop your luggage off at the DE desk and away you go, straight into the park...

I don't think I have ever booked my Disney hotel trip and my travel there at the same time, so I personally think you'll be absolutely fine booking your hotel now and then booking your Eurostar tickets by phone as soon as they become available, and get the cheap fares and train times to suit you on your dates.

If thats your preferred method of travel, thats what I would do.

Oooh tough.. I'm sure you would be safe to wait for the eurostar. Am I right in thinking you're from Scotland? (forgive me if I'm wrong!) easyjet do quite good flight times from Scotland if so (I suppose that depends where you are of course)

I've booked hotel for feb and currently waiting for Eurostar to be released. I rang up Eurostar and put name on waiting list and got told they will email when they open bookings for that time

I would wait for the Eurostar. It's less hassle than flying and if you put your name on the waiting list or keep checking regularly you should have no problem getting a good deal. If you fly back at 8pm you're going to have to leave at 5ish anyway to get back to the airport which is about the same as the Eurostar. You're there for four nights aswell so you'll have plenty of time.

Definitely keep checking the Eurostar though. I'd be surprised if the tickets weren't released until the end of the year. I booked our tickets for May this year last October or November.

I'd book DLP now and wait for the Eurostar tickets to be released - it's so much more civilised than flying and unless you're going in the Easter holidays the tickets will be reasonable. As Gemma said phone them and get your name put on the waiting list - that way you'll be one of the first to book.

I think I'm going to do something slightly crazy.. I've fallen in love with the idea of getting an afternoon flight on the Saturday, staying off-site that night and then being at Disney fresh and early on the Sunday.

So, I'm seriously considering going by plane on the way there and coming back by Eurostar on the way home!

That's what we did last year! We went out by Eurostar as we were already in London and flew home.

Just a warning though - make sure you book with one of the budget airlines though as Air France will really sting you for booking one way (they wanted over £1200 for 5 of us whereas with Flybe it was a fraction of the cost at just over £300). Eurostar also charge extra for one way but not ridiculously so - I think we probably paid an extra £10 each than what we'd have paid on the outward leg if we'd booked a return journey.

Hope I haven't burst your bubble but I just wanted to make you aware it can work out more expensive than you'd at first think.

Thanks for the warning! I had wondered whether there would be a catch to doing that. But as long as it's not too much more expensive I think the benefit will outweigh that cost.

Fly to gatwick, stay in a premier inn in ashford and go with eurostar next day.

I would say it's a great feeling knowing you are pulling up rite in the middle of the park

I've already priced up Easyjet from Luton (a 20 minute drive from our house!) and it's coming up fairly reasonable... so I think that might be the way forward!

We regularly take Easyjet Luton to CDG for DLP - its very easy from Luton .
