What to do to offset Disney Depression?

My wife and I can not make our annual December trip to WDW this year for some very good reasons. We are planning a "staycation" but it just isn't the same as planning for WDW. I should be anxiously waiting for a 180 days out to start making ADRs!!!!!!!
Trying to think of what to do to overcome "disney depression" (somehow that sounds like an oxymoron).
I decided today that my goal will be to post one reply to some meaningful post in one of the forums. I am hoping that sharing some tidbit with someone who is planning may help until I start planning for December, 2016! Any other ideas about what you do in between Disney visits.... we don't have any kids so doing anything with a kid won't work for us.

watch disney movies
play some of the games on http://games.disney.com/
think about buying some DVC points - resale ONLY - if you really need to go every year.
see if you find one of those Mickey Waffle machine and have waffles for breakfast or dinner. Not sure where my friend found one - but one present have definitely enjoyed over the years.

Work on scrapbooks of your past Disney vacations together, watch the vacation planning dvd or series of Disney Parks shows that air on the Travel Channel & Destination America, plan your next trip even if it's more than a year away, make some recipes of your favorite Disney foods, read Disney history books or travel guides, listen to the DISunplugged and MouseQuest podcasts. Keep dreaming and make the best of your wait!

watch disney movies

LOL! I like to watch all the POTC movies and spot the scenes from the ride.

I've also a couple of Disney trivia or secrets books which are fun to read in prep for my next trip. And, listen to Disney music as I read the books.

The only Disney depression I experience is the time between Disney Cruises. Luckily to fill this gap I enjoy planning future cruises, visiting Disneyland (I live 10-miles away), watching Disney movies, work on my Disney costumes (I typically make a two a year for MNSSHP and Halloween), and giving advice to others about Disney vacations (when I'm asked).

You could always challenge each other to plan your ideal/dream Disney vacation and see what the other comes up with if money were no object....all the fun with none of the spending

DW and I always have multiple trips in the planning process so you can be looking forward to the next trip, even if it is just a day trip to DTD.

I'm having a similar problem due to finances. It's been five years for us and will be at least two more before we can go back. I'm going nuts! I've been trying to keep sane by planning multiple fantasy trips for different budgets, watching resort videos and pricing different packages on the Disney website. I also watch a lot of videos. It's still a work in progress but wdwvirtualvisit.com is a good choose-your-own-tour of Epcot and MK. Visiting our local Disney store gives me a little bit of the Disney feeling when I really need it too.

I have a puppy. :)

Okay, he's four and a half, but he's my own very empathetic Labrador. Whenever we come back from anywhere, he's so happy and bouncy and snuggly that it wipes all of that way.
