What to do on Saturday?

I've read many posts and books that say, "Stay away from MK on Saturday!" The water parks are suppposed to be overly crowded on Saturdays as well.
What should we do??? Our flight leaves at 8:15, so we have a big chunk of day to fill.

I stay away from the parks completely on the weekends. We usually go for 8 days/7 nights, so my Saturdays are normally spent looking around my resort, unpacking, sometimes swimming, and then the traditional first night dinner at Chef Mickey's. Sundays are spent at DTD and the resort and then HDDR or the Luau or another buffet for dinner. We normally hit MK first thing Monday morning. I know that not all go to WDW for 8 days, and I have heard that Saturdays are packed at MK. However, if I had only Sat. or Sun. to choose from, I'd pick Sunday. I'd imagine that there would be fewer locals there, at least at openimg.

You don't say when you are travelling, but I assume it is pretty soon. We always make MK our last-day park because it is our favorite -- regardless of the day of the week (we always make it our first-day park, too!). Just pick your favorite park, make a PS for the earliest breakfast at whichever in-park restaurant is available, and enjoy! My only other advice would be to pick the park nearest your hotel, if you are staying on-site, so you minimize the amount of time you have to spend getting ready to go to the airport.

Unofficial Guide recommends Sat at MK It's a travel day for most folks). We just spent the last 2 Saturdays there and had pretty good luck. On 3/26 we never showed up at MK until the afternoon. But by using fast passes we still had a great time. Go for it!

We are renting a car for a day or two and on Saturday we will be going to Canaveral national Seashore. There are bald eagles and other birds, along with many other types of wildlife. We are just going to relax for the day.

We always keep the last day open, for whatever park we still have stuff to do at. Last trip it was MK, on a Sat. and while it seemed more crowded, we still managed to get a lot done.]

We have always had good luck at Epcot on the weekends.

We like going to Epcot on Saturdays. We are used to the no crowds in January, and Saturdays are still way too crowded for us in MK. When you go to Epcot, even if its crowded, you arent standing in line for rides all day. You can spend the day walking through the countries, checking out the entertainment in Epcot like The British Invasion, Off Kilter, The Candy lady in Japan, the living statues, belly dancer in Morrocco, gymnasts in China, etc.. The kids can make their masks and there are rides too of course. American Adventure is good.. and you get sit in the air conditioning!! We like to spend some time sending free emails and videos home from Innoventions. If saturday is your only chance at seeing spectro, hop on over to Mk on the monorail about 90 minutes before it starts. Get a good spot EARLY!

We are avoiding any park on Saturday this time. However, we will be willing to rearrange our schedule if we need to, if something happens to go on like Spectro we may want to see, but for now, it's not scheduled.

I also think it's grad night when we are there, so we may not have that option anyway.

I'm debating the same thing. Our first full day is this Saturday and we like to do MK on our first day but I've heard nothing but horror stories about MK crowds on Saturdays so I think we are going to do EPCOT instead. That means we will be doing MK on Sunday but I don't know if that is going to be much better!

Which day would you recommend going to MK? We will be there 8 days/9 nights in mid May. I thought I had a good plan until I looked at the unofficial recommendation for MK on Sat. and now I don't know when to plan it.

Sunday is considered to be busier than Saturday for the MK. The rationale is this: many, MANY people use Saturday as a travel/arrival day, then hit the MK as the first park of their trip on Sunday.

IMHO - YMMV.

We're getting in this Saturday around noon, and then going over to MGM around 3:00. I want to wait to do MK until first thing in the morning. I thought it would be nice to see Fantasmic our first night there...start things off great!

On Sunday, I made an 8:05 breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace. This way, you are in the park before the park opens. I heard it's great because you get awesome pictures without tons of people and are the first ones there when it opens! I read that on this board, that it's a great tip!

We're heading first to space mountain. We'll hit everything hard until about lunchtime, then just start taking it easy after that...go with the flow sort of, see the sights.

My kids (11 and 8) will be so excited, I can't make them wait past Sunday to do the MK. In their minds, that's the real WDW!
