What to do on our DAP Saturday block out

Have a few things planned for our non Disney days - we want to go to the beaches on the woody bus (Huntington, Laguna, Newport) and also the Hollywood tour with Grayline. The main day we need to plan for is Saturday when we can't have a Disney day due to DAP block out - we are talking a Saturday in July here!
I was originally thinking that a beach day might be good on a Saturday but thinking about it, I thought maybe it would be a good day to do the sights of Hollywood being a non 'working' day might be easier to get into and around LA - also I thought the locals might all flock to the beaches on a Saturday - any thoughts?

We usually do DTD so that we don't have to waste time during our Disney days...

We are staying 14 nights however and we want to discover more of the area as we may never get the chance again - for DD Hollywood is a must - she really thinks that she's going to bump into the Jonas Bros or Miley Cyrus.

In all our WDW trips we have never been to the beach so again we HAVE to see soem Californian beaches whilst we are down there

Santa Monica pier/beach is nice..amusement park and beach all in one. Maybe youshould check into the so cal city pass.
