I'm on the March 6, 2004 - 7 day eastern cruise. We are getting picked up at the port by my friend's ex-husband. He is taking us to the airport. (kind of wierd, but he lives in Florida--and he wants to see his daughter for a few hours) Anyway, we don't fly out of Orlando until 5 p.m. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we could do? I thought maybe Downtown Disney. They could eat and hang out, and my friend and I could do the same. But I don't know if we'd have enough time! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You would have plenty of time to do Downtown Disney. You'll be off the ship no later than 9 am and it only takes an hour to get to the Disney area. If you flight is at 5 pm you'll want to be at the airport around 3 pm. That gives you plenty of time to go to Downtown Disney, shop, eat, etc.

Some people have done Kennedy Space Center as well while others have gotten a Day room at the Airport Hyatt to be able to use the pool and relax there before their flight.

(yes, I'm a compulsive list-maker)...
Our return flight doesn't leave until 7PM, so we have a little more time than you, but you have a good amount. It's only about 1 hour or 1 hour 15 minutes back to Orlando. Kennedy Space Center is an option (bus tour takes 2 1/2 hours and is incl. w/admission. They leave every 15 min. from 10 to 2:45. Adm $33 adult/$23 child under 12).
There's also:
Disney Quest ($24/$20 if purchased ahead)
If you have an AP, go to WDW
Disney Wilderness Preserve ($2/$1) hiking trails
Mini Golf at Disney ($9.25/7.5)
Universal City Walk
Holy Land Experience ($29.75/$19.75)
Word Spring Exhibits (free and has great food area)
Flea Markets
catch a movie
Orlando Science center (prices vary)
Lots of other attractions in Orlando area.

Another possibility is to take a picnic lunch and go to Blue Springs State Park - a little out of the way - just past orlando on I-4 heading East (and north). The Springs are beautiful and there is a boardwalk all along the side. When the weather gets cooler, the manatee from the St. John's River spend winter hanging out in the clear blue spring water. You can swim near then but not touch them. You can also rent a canoe and go out in the river. It costs about $4 a carload to go to a state park.

I suggest that you spend the day at the Kennedy Space Center. A highlight of this tour is the chance to have lunch with an astronaut.
