We are taking the autotrain to Orlando and won't be able to get in our condo until 3pm. I'm thinking we'll be tired from the trip. Should we just get an extra day on our WDW tickets if we think we might go...or is there something else budget we could do? Thanks!

We have always traditionally done Chef Mickey for dinner on our day of arrival. You get to kick start your character experience and you can get started with your autographs.

You can always go over to DTD, eat dinner at a CS place or even at Rainforest Cafe and walk around.

Typically we try to book our flight for late night arrival 8-9PM to MCO or 9-10 am to MCO if late night its the pool if early AM it is typically a day in the parj. like we are doing this year.
Hope this helps ya out........

We usually check out DTD on the night of arrival, but sometimes we "resort hop" depending on the season we go. Especially Christmas time ... it's so neat to see how all the resorts are decorated, and gives us a reason to dream about places we can't really afford to stay at yet.

I wouldn't at that hour. Try for DTD dinner, or a resort meal. Minigolf, or some other "out-of-the-park" activity that gets you to bed early to be bright-eyed & bushy-tailed in the A.M. sounds much better [don't forget, trains can run late! :) ]

we to do dtd
and maybe a round of depending on the weather
have a magical trip

Ya we are expected to land in Orlando about 9:30pm. By the time we get checked in  ??? So DTD is what is on the schedule for the next day. We want to be well rested before we start at MK.

So at DTD we plan to shop and play. Quest and have din-din at T-Rex. That's all the planning I have for that day. Other than having our sons make a light saber! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We just added a day to our park tickets. For us, the price between a 6 day MYW base ticket and a 5 day MYW base ticket is negligable so we just went for a few hours on the first day.

How about a monorail tour? The TTC to EPCOT line even goes over Future World. You can view the MK fireworks from any of the Monorail resorts. There's also the Electrical Water Parade that can be viewed there as well.

We will be arriving around noonish (thats the plan anyway:) ). We will check in @ Pop(not planning on having the room ready yet, just need the park tickets) & then off to DTD for lunch & to make another lightsaber, over to MGM to get our mickey ears & have our names put on them(we will pick them up on Sat. morning). Then over to AK since they are open till 7pm. Grab an early dinner then off to bed.

WE have taken the Auto Train several times. it arrives at 8AM but it can take 1-2 hours to unload all the cars. then you need lunch and the drive to WDW so you probably won't get to your resort till 1-2 PM. Downtown Disney is a great place to get in the Disney spirit and not waste a day's ticket.

We're driving down to Florida and spending our first day at Kennedy Space Center. We'll probably get to Pop around 5pm, and will hopefully have enough time to freshen up before we go to Fort Wilderness for the Campfire Sing-Along...we thought about going to MNSSHP our first night, but I have a feeling we'd be too exhausted after driving two days and sightseeing at KSC...

I did same with a 6/7 day upgrade tix. It was fun to just "visit MK" for a while and walk around a bit. Certainly got us ready for the upcoming FUN! :cool1:

What about your bags? If you a lugging them around I think that would make it hard to do much.
But if you have a car I would just get your self used to the area you are staying and see if maybe there is something close by.

We went at the begining of August. We had the same questions. We ended up having a bite to eat and hanging in the pool. We also walked around our resort and got a good nights sleep. I wish we had planned more down time instead of GO GO GO. Our first and last days with no parks were some of the best days for our kids.

We like to do a character meal when we arrive. Usually we take the red eye so we like to do the Stitch breakfast at Ohana. We do the last seating, then wander around a bit till our room is ready. Then nap.

We arrive at MCO at 1pm. After we get the car and stop for groceries I figure it will be around 4pm when we get to the house. We are off to Chef Mickey's for a 5:40 dinner. We're going on the monorail a time or two and then back to the house for bed and early morning at AK the next day. I thought about going to DTD after dinner but think the kids will be beat.

For some reason we like to do AK on arrival day. We catch the 1st plane that leave our airport which takes off at around 7:30 we land around 10:30. Hopefully we should arrive at the POP by 12:00 we will do early check in and then be at AK by 1 or 1:30. Then we have ADR's for dinner at RFC, but we are hoping to eat at B&C instead it will depend on what their wait time is over there.
