What to do on an "off" day?

We've got a big family trip to Disney coming up. It's actually our first time all going together...yay!
My parents, who are in their 50s, are not going to enjoy going to the parks every day. My dad, in particular, is not much of a theme park guy so I don't want to push it. I've been to Disney many times and I have yet to make time for anything outside the parks (I know..shameful).

Anyway, I'd love to get some ideas on things they can do on an "off" day. Beaches, parks, touristy things...I'm interested in hearing it all. They will have a car so that's a non issue. So please share your suggestions.

Here are a few ideas ....... IF they are willing to drive & see a bit of the Real Florida on the way.

( A ) An Airboat Ride at Midway Airboats at Christmas on the way to Titisville ( www.airboatridesat midway.com ph. 407 568 6790

Take a look at the replica Fort at Christmas on the way there.


( B ) A Boat trip at Blue Heron River Tours at Hontoon Landing near Deland ( north of Orlando )

( C ) A day trip to Kennedy Space Station .... this is a must do day out.


( D ) Find a map from AAA of Florida AND Drive & Explore ...... there are many many places to see All within

a 60 mile journey away from Disney

BUT GO OUT & EXPLORE

We are NOT from USA Or Canada but we are both in our 60,s And we drive over 1500 miles in 3 weeks.

Kennedy Space Center
Skeleton museum (very small but very interesting)
Gatorland
Showcase of Citrus
Ringling Museum of Art, Circus museaum and Ca' d'Zan mansion

Winter Park is a nice destination. It’s like walking around a village and the Morse Museum is beautiful. Amazing Tiffany Glass exhibits with a minimal entrance fee... $6 http://mobile.morsemuseum.org/

AND there is a very pleasant Boat Tour of the lake which takes an hour .... look it up .

And LEU Gardens is up that way

Just about to do my 2nd trip to WDW. Haven't done an off-day yet, but if I did, it would include:
- sleeping in
- hanging out by the pool
- drinking in the afternoon
- napping after the afternoon buzz wor off
- shopping / souvenir shopping
- downtown Disney
- dinner at a nice restaurant
- night cap

Outlet mall shopping, beach day, Orlando Eye, City Walk. I am in my 50’s and dh is in his 60’s an we like to do all of these things.

We have a Disney family meeting coming up (almost time to book fast passes) and I will be bringing up all of your ideas. The space center is a great option and I'm sure my dad will love it. I'll start looking into some of these suggestions asap!
