DW and DD will be arriving 7:30 AM Oct 3 to pick up our three DNieces arriving throughout the day of the third. I will not get there until early Oct 4. DW was wondering what she could do with DD(1) and DNieces (13,13,& 12) on the night of the 3rd to get in the spirit of WDW?

Any suggestions?

Although I've never been, DisneyQuest in Downtown Disney sounds like an excellent idea for three early-teens.

We went to Downtown Disney and each child got to buy a small toy. The atmosphere around DD is great - fun and Disney!

My 4yo daughter loved the "twinkling trees"

We always do the Hoop Dee Doo on the first night to get us in a WDW mood. Works every time.

We usually hit Downtown Disney but in the evening it can be so crowded. This year we're going to Chef Mickey's for dinner and then a ride on the monorail. You can't get more in the Disney mood than twirling your napkin around as Mickey and Minnie dance around the restaurant. Just a suggestion!

Our first-evening plan (always) is to have dinner at Ohana at the Polynesian resort, followed by a monorail trip over to Epcot and back.

If you time it just right, you'll get back to the Poly with plenty of time to stroll down to the beach and watch the Electrical Water Pageant. If there happens to be fireworks that night at the MK, you may be able to see them from the beach, also.

You could also watch the Water Pageant from any of the other Magic Kingdom area beaches, too, if they'd like to check out other resorts. (Ft Wilderness, Contemporary, Grand Floridian).

Our tradition is to go to Chef Mickey's first night to get into the mood. The food buffet is actually very good, something for everyone with a great dessert bar. And of course, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Chip and Dale are there!

We usually do DTD on our first night. We love to get a bite to eat and explore. It's a great way to get in the Disney spirit!

This year we'll be eating dinner at one of the monorail resorts and taking a monorail tour. I got the idea here on these boards, and it seems like another great way to get in the spirit! Plus, ds(4) doesn't usually get to ride the monorail all that much (just from MK to Epcot) and I think he'll get a kick out of it. I'm hoping we'll be able to ride up front!:D

We're getiing in late in the afternoon Aug. 17th. So we are going to do the Fantasmic package. Kids are 1 and 4 so we chose Mamma Melrose. Closing the trip the following Saturday with the Luau at the Polynesian.
Best Regards,
Amy

Good suggestions above.
Remember, Disney Quest costs $ if you don't go during your park ticket purchase time.

We always stay @ All Stars Resorts the night before we start our regular package & we swim, go to dinner @ an on-site hotel, ride the monorail around & possibly take a walk on the boardwalk.

Also, there's Cirque du Soleil, DTD to browse, shop & eat, visit the different hotels to 'check them out'.

Dinner at a monorail resort (we love Ohana's and 1900 PF, we hate Chef Mickeys), followed by watching the EWP from the beach at one of the resorts. If FITS is going on on the 3rd they can get a wonderful view from the ferry dock at the GF.

I vote for Downtown Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Count us among those who go to DTD the first night for a nice dinner and some leisurely shopping. You could also add DQ to that outing, especially if you have UPHP that include it!

We usually spend a little time walking around our resort, to get to know where everything is (we try to stay at a different resort each time we go) and then we hit DTD. We make sure we are back to our room early to get a good nights sleep to get ready for the next day.
:p

Have a great time! :Pinkbounc

Last year we spent the evening at Downtown Disney which was great to get us in the Disney mood. This year we are staying at the Contmeporary so we are going to ride the monorail, go to Chef Mickeys and try to catch the Water Pagaent !!:D
