Somebody asked this in another thread but people just started posting about how the rains would be short. These have not been typical spring storms. These are going to be persistant for several days. We're here now and the local news sees no signs that this is letting up.

So...

What do you do when you get tired of slogging through the wet? What do you do in the parks and what else is there to do on or off property?

get a poncho and slog through... you have few other options that are not like going to your local mall. The best thing is that lines are usually very short in the rain

Another vote for throwing on a poncho and going to the parks. Future World at Epcot is particularly good for rainy days.

If you don't want to do the parks there is DisneyQuest at DTD. There is a movie theatre and lots of shopping there as well.

Or you could go resort hopping.

The same thing happened to us several years ago. A tropical storm or depression stalled over Florida and it rained, and stormed sometimes, everyday. We did just what the other posters said and we kept on going. We were soaked, but we still managed to have a wonderful vacation.

Rain does keep the crowds down, BUT I know what you mean about there being only so long you can stand being soaked!! We have had trips where it rained and rained every day. We hit the parks until we can't take it anymore, then head to DTD and take in a movie or shop. DisneyQuest is good if you have older children or teens that really like video games. We have also ventured off-site and caught a dinner show, be sure to have coupon though, never pay full price. Other than that, there is the hotel arcade. We did AK last year in the rain, turned out to be a good day. The animals like the rain and cooler temps. Make the best of it and have fun. We arrive on May 31st and hope this rain ends. It's raining all the time here in GA too, we are trying to find some sun.

Put on the ponchos and go go go! We did Epcot in the rain and got to see somethings that we probably would not have done if it wasn't raining outside. Last July we had rain every single day of our trip. One day it was so bad all day. The roof at the contemporary leaked on our table at Chef Mickey's!

I really hope it stops raining on Saturday. It is my 21st birthday and we are going down there just for the day. It is also the last time I get to go with my hubby because he is leavin in June for a year deployment...

but at the same time... I would like smaller crowds and I LOVE the rain.. hmmm

Hi all. Here at disney. Rain rain and more rain. Any ideas. No car on resort. Hard to do parks in rain with 4 year old.

We SING in the rain :lmao:

Ok that was a bad one but I had to do it!

We love the parks in the light rain, things clear out alot but in a heavy thunder/lightening storm I would rather hang out at the Tambu Lounge at the Poly!

Go to AK! We had a full day of rain once when our kids were 6 & 4. We bought them baseball caps and ponchos and went to AK. It was an amazing day. We saw more animals than ever before on the safari. We went to Rafiki's Planet Watch and the kids had Stanley and Rafiki all to themselves. We also saw a duck getting a check-up! The crowds were low and we went on KRR over and over since we were wet anyway.

My vote is for the resort arcade. If you got a package, you probably received a 30 min. free play card. We went one evening last week and all three kids took turns choosing games. Because none of them are very good, our 30 minutes lasted long enough for everyone to play at least 3 games and it killed a good hour or more.

Also, if you're in MK when it rains, head over to Pirates of the Carribbean. We rode it 3 times in a row last week during a storm w/no wait each time. It is inside, so didn't close during the thunderstorm. The CM in the gift shop was so sweet w/my kids! He traded pins and showed them hidden Mickeys in the shop and real movie memoribilia from POTC and told them about the hidden Mickeys in the ride. We then rode it AGAIN to see the HM for ourselves. It was fun, even though the rain wasn't. (It kept up for over 4 hrs.!!) So much for those 20 min. passing showers everyone talked about! :)

I'm melting, I'm melting......:rotfl2:

We slogged through the rain most of this morning - but it does get a bit old after a while :) We arrived at MK at about 9am - rode Dumbo, Pooh, Peter Pan, Snow White, It's a Small World, POTC, Thunder and Splash mountains - all without waiting. We then ate, at about 11.30am, wandered around in the rain, saw the Tiki show (to get out of the rain LOL), did some shopping on Main Street, then headed back to POFQ. We're here now, listening to the rain - not sure what we'll be doing later, but I know the ponchos will be involved !! :) I keep telling myself how badly they need the rain around here, which helps a little. We'll probably head to DTD and shop some more :)

We're here in wdw right now. The rain is crazy and we've run out of things to do. Yesterday we went to DTD and saw Angels & Demons, then Star Trek. Today, we went to the Hard Rock for lunch and then to the outlet mall. Tonight, we're going to the GF cafe for dinner. Tomorrow, we are planning on driving out to the Kennedy Space Center to check it out (DH has always wanted to go there). Thursday, the plan is to go to Epcot, since most things are "in-doorsy" attractions.

I guess we've made the most of the situation, especially since we were PLANNING on doing water parks the whole time we were here (Mother Nature zapped our plans but GOOD :lmao:). Oh well, at least I'm not in work.

I like doing disney in the rain because the crowds all rush inside! I agree with the others- grab a poncho and have fun!
