Hi all:

We will be taking our son to SC for college in Aug driving :car: from CT, and this will end up being vacation.

A few days in Charleston SC and then we thought we might break up the drive back to CT by stopping in NC.

What would you do in that area for a few days. I have some that want to be outdoors at the beach :beach: ...some that are history buffs :teacher:.

The other option would be to stop in DC. Not sure I want to do that in the Aug heat though, plus the crowds.

Appreciate any info! Thanks in advance. :listen:

I assume you are driving down the I-95 corridor?? Outer Banks isn't as easy to reach by 95 as you may think. It's a pretty good ride from there. I forget the road over that way, maybe 64 east?? Outer Banks is great. Very relaxing, you have the Wright Brothers Museum, great beaches--we live in NJ and love the Outer Banks. This is the first year we won't be going in 15 years!!

Anyway, have you thought about Williamsburg instead?? Nice area, lots to do, without all the city craziness of DC.
