Last year we took our two boys around the city to the libray and up to the fort. It is an easy walk as our 4 year old did it without me having to carry him.

We will be back in 2 weeks and, although I first opted to stay on the boat, we decided to bring our snorkeling gear and take a taxi to Love Beach. The boys really want to see the fish and the snorkeling at CC is not nearly as good.

Well, I appreciate your honesty on staying on the ship for those who said they did or doing that. I had no idea so many people did that.

Maybe because this is my first time in the islands I am really excited about looking around. I might feel different after I spend the day the there.:rotfl: Right now I have the harbour cruise booked and thinking about squeezing in the gardens and city tour. :headache: :headache: Darn vacation is hard work.:lmao:

If you've never been to the Bahamas, you should definitely get off the boat, and you will have fun!

Nassau is fine, just not particularly interesting as far as tropical destinations go. It was the first one I ever visited, and I had a great time! It's definitely different from the U.S., both in terms of the beautiful landscapes and culturally. Now I've been to some other islands I prefer (St. Thomas and Cancun are favorites).

We may stay on the ship, since it's just a three-day cruise, so there really aren't that many daytime hours onboard and we're NOT missing Castaway Cay. But right now I'm leaning toward doing one of the shorter snorkel excursions. I love the ocean so much, and when I see that tropical water, I long to be in it! If we have bad weather on our CC day and I didn't get off the ship at Nassau, I'd be so disappointed.

We did...nuffin. Stayed on the boat and enjoyed it. There is so little time on the 3 or 4 night cruise that enjoying the boat seemed like our top priority.

We've been to Nassau twice (not counting DCL trip) and we stayed at Atlantis one of those times. It is ok, but when we went on our first cruise DS and I stayed on the ship while DH ran to Atlantis to buy cigars. They have a shop there where they roll them in front of you.

Maybe on a longer trip I would get off the boat, but on a 4-day I want as much boat-time as possible. :cloud9:

We've been before, once we just walked around downtown and shopped, and the other was a land vacation.

We just got off of a Carnival cruise that was supposed to go to Nassau but ended up in Freeport instead. I had booked a room at Comfort Suites and had to cancel it before we sailed. So I'm thinking we might try to do that again and go to Aquaventure, but like others have said, relaxing on the boat and getting our money's worth out of the cruise might be nice, too!

We did the historic city tour. Yuck! Straw Market. Yuck! Just our opinion, but we would vote for stay on the ship. If we never get back to Nassau again, it will be too soon.

We did the Glass bottom boat tour and it was OK. The tour guide Toney Baloney was the best part. In November we are doing the Cat Snorkeling. We are pretty excited about that. We have also done the carriage ride twice. The first time it was off season and the guide was very thourough. The second time we had a different guide and he rushed us through. We did enjoy it a lot the first time though. My daughter also got her hair braided while we were there the first time. Let me tell you that you need to agree on a price ahead of time. We went to the covered spot for the acredited braiders, but I have heard of a lot of people getting taken for more than $100! This may seem like common sense to some of us, but for people who have never dealt with street vendors in the 2nd world...
