What to do in Line????

I am going solo to WDW at the beginning of spring break and crowd levels are listed at 7-9 for the days I am there.

I have been when it is crowded but always with a group never solo. I don't think I have ever waited longer than 20 minutes in line and even then I was kind of bored. Plus I find myself listening to othe peoples convos and I have gotten stares

I am sure on this trip I will find myself waiting in longer lines. I thought of bringing a paperback book.

What do you do in long lines????

Talk to CM's or some other people in line. There is always something strange or funny that happens and you can use it as an ice breaker.

I think that will depend on your personality and the personality of those around you. Striking up conversation sounds like a great way to pass time and get to know new things. But if you're not comfortable with that, the cell phone games are fun to do! My husband and I would play on our cell phones when we got tired of talking to each other! The book sounds good, too.. I've never thought of that!

well I bring a book - because sometimes the people surrounding you just won't talk.

but remember that is THEIR problem not yours.

most of the time they are as bored as you and are willing to talk. especially if they are talking about themselves... ask what state, what hotel, how long they have been at WDW, etc.

but most of the time if the line is more than 20 minutes I go somewhere else.
Okay 30 minutes.

remember though lots of time the line says 20 minutes in reality it is 10 minutes. the CM's don't send in the timer like they use too.

also remember the single lines. (wish they would get the single line back at Soarin' and Mission:space)

I brought a portable cd player...this was many years ago.

If you go to Walmart, Walgreens, CVS or any place like that they have game called 20Q. It is a handheld game that asks 20 questions and guesses what you are thinking. It is hours worth of entertainment and I've had people in line play with us. It's fun for everyone.
The cost is about $10-12. Cheap entertainment

I read a book usually or talk to people...but there is a book out there written about that very thing. I have it at home (I'm on the road) I'll try to look abd get it tomorrow night if I'm not too tired to remember lol...Look for hidden Mickeys...

I'm not going solo, but I figured that for really long lines, some extra help might be nice, so I ordered a few of the Imagineering Field Guide books online. I figure that if we're in a super long line, we can read them and have some fun trivia to share with the people around us!

WOW Everyone thanks so much for all the good ideas.

I was looking at getting the Imagineering Field Guide that would be good to look at in line.

The 20Q is a good one and other people in line might want to play along so that would be a good ice breaker with other people in line

I am sure things won't be too bad but I love rides and if it is as busy as expected I don't want to miss out.

...This is really hugely dorky, I admit...but I take knitting everywhere. Just a sock or something really small. You'd be amazed the kind of conversations you can get into while you're working on a little project.

If I get to go in March (which I'm still not sure about) I'll definitely have a sock or two, or a baby hat, or something like that, with me.

Starting up conversations with people. funniest conversation was with one young girl, who asked us where we were from. We told her we were Canadians, and we had a bit of snow before we left. She replied her that her town in Texas had a snow day once. We smiled, and told her our "snow day runs from October till March " her reaction was priceless

I usually chat-up the CM or other in the line with typical park type stuff (rides,where to eat, where you're staying). The other thing I like to do and I am slightly ashamed to admit this, check out what type of footwear people have on. Granted most have on sneakers, athletic type sandles or Crocs. But, I have seen some real doozies. This past trip I saw a woman in AK with red heels with socks OK what ever floats you boat. My dogs would have been howling before I ever got off the bus.
