my birthday is tomorrow and my mil offered to come on saturday to watch the kids so dh and I could go out. woo-hooo!!!!! my son has a baseball game that should end around 1, so the earliest we could realistically get into town would be around 2 or 3, depending on how fast we can get ready. we have a gift card to pf changs, so dinner is set, but am wondering what else we could do and am drawing a blank. had thought about popping into the MFA since we haven't been in a loooong time, but they close by 4:45, not much time. any other thoughts?????

We like just walking around quincy market and fanueil hall.........you could people watch on newbury street, get dessert somewhere, or else the north end for dessert.
big apple circus is in town :) :)

maybe there is something good at the Wang this weekend?
have fun the weather is supposed to be nice!

A sunset cruise would be nice...but it's still too cold. They don't start running for a few more weeks.

How about going to a comedy club?

This one is right at Faneuil Hall, the shops are open until 9 so if you had time to kill in between dinner and the show you could walk around there:

I was also going to suggest the comedy club at Faneuil Hall - DH and I have been to a few shows there and enjoyed it.

Not exactly Boston, but you could always go to Gillete Stadium and watch the Revolution take on FC Dallas.

I always found Southie to be quite entertaining, if you like bars. Plus you can walk around castle island. Also the Newbury St. or Prudential areas are great. I was going to combine those two but I've been out of MA for too long and cant be sure if they're close or not. I'm sure they are as I worked at the Hancock building for a summer and can recall walking to both on my lunch break. While in MA both Salem and Plymouth are lovely towns to visit, full of history. Salem was always my favorite, and the one town I do actually miss. Enjoy your stay!!!!! And if you see any fireflies, take pictures. Don't seem to have them here in Florida. :(

let us know how your day went, the weather is beautiful today!!
oh and happy birthday!

thanks all for the great ideas! we ended up having to scratch our big date night. dh is suffering from horrible allergies and nothing seems to be helping them. oh well, there's always next time! hopefully everyone else is out enjoying this beautiful weather. :)

Well next time the opportunity presents itself try OM in cambridge, Tapeo on newbury street, Cuchi Cuchi in Cambridge or Tangerinos, Charlestown. All fabulous places to have cocktails and dinner I believe OM has a lounge so you could stay for some dancing. After any of the above if your feeling like dancing you could hit up any of the clubs I prefer lounges but that's me. If you want to have another cocktail and just chat it up like adults hit the Oakroom bar great drinks and good piano player also gives you that fabulous 20-30's vibe and with the lighting and all the woodwork you'll just shine =) I love date night lol.

You mentioned MFA hrm did you know they have whats called first Fridays? The first Friday of ever month they host a tapas and wine social where for a small fee and your museum admission you can listen to live music and nosh on small plates of food while you drink wine and look at all that fab art. The Gardner Museum does something similar but I don't think they do it as well it seems a more student crowd vs MFA seems a mixed crowd.
