For those of you that have taken your little ones on a disney cruise what have been your experiences with sea sickness. I plan to ask my pediatrician (DS will be age 2 when we sail) but was curious as to what others opinions were with young children

I have 2 girls, ages 8 and 5. We just got back last week. I was afraid of sea sickness...they're not normally motion sick but you never now. Well anyway, I bought those motion sickness wrist bands...bought them at the grocery store. There's no medicine they just work with pressure points in the wrist. They had cute colors, too, so the kids liked wearing them. Never had a problem. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We went with a two year old and we were worried about the same thing. He was fine the entire time - he had a blast! We did bring medicine just in case - they have medicine just for kids.

I'd like to know what the name of the meds were for the kids, too! Is it over the counter, or do you need prescription from the doctor? Will be traveling with DS 4 & 2. Thank you! :wave2:

When we asked the Ped just before taking our 1yo on a cruise, he said to carry Children's Benadryl. Something about it having the same meds found in sea-sick pills.

My Ped also recommended Benadryl for my children ages 3 and 4. (I spoke to her yesterday). She said that other sea sickness medications act unpredictably in children.

Just my $.02 worth...........

Benadryl may work, but my DS has unpredictable reactions to it. Some times it makes him very sleepy and other times makes him hyper. I plan on asking Ped what to use when we go to his next appointment.

I just bought some chewable Dramamine for our upcoming cruise. They have dosages for kids 2 and over.

Checked with the pediatrician and they also recommended this.

We bought the chewable dramamine as well (orange flavor). It is for ages 2 and up. You take 1/4 to 1/2 of a tablet every 6 - 8 hours. It can also be used by adults.

Have a great time, my son still talks about the Mickey cruise. I didn't realize how much he would enjoy himself even at his young age.
