what to do for kids @ akl?

i was wondering what there is specifically for kids @ akl? I have 2 and 6 year old daughters and heard there are a ton of activities but I am not getting that vibe lately. Please advise.

I can't say this enough that this resort is by far my most favorite. But I took my neices this last July and there are lots to do for kids. There is camfire stories, night vision to see the animals, cookie decorating at Boma, games in the lobby and poolside. And while we were there it seemed like everyday we went to the pool the lifeguards were always playing games with the kids. When you check in go over to the Bellhop desk, there is a bulletin board with a list of activities and the times to participate listed. I hope this helps. You are going to Love AKL.

AKL is great for kids. There are scheduled activities throughout the day for the kids to earn beads for a bead necklace. These were the activities and the approximate times when we were there: Flamingo Feedings @ 9:00, Animal Tracking @ 11:00, Junior Researcher @ 2:00, Music of the Savanna @ 5:00, and Animal Games @ 6:30. When all the activites are completed the children receive the totem bead. My kids loved it. We actually spent an extra day at AKL just to do the activities and enjoy the pool. (BTW, we still didn't do everything, but they did earn the totem bead!)

There is also Cookie Decorating at the Boma (1:00ish), Medallion Rubbings (there are large medallions in the floor of the lobby; the kids place paper over the medallions and rub the images using a pencil or something); Animal Viewing with Night Vision, Storytelling by the firepit, Pool Games, Arts and Crafts with the Lifeguards, and a Hidden Mickey search (my kids really enjoyed this, and it's a great way to tour the hotel. We thought it was easier after we familiarized ourselves with the hotel first.)

Of course, there are plenty of places to view animals - not only at the savanna outlooks, but also thru the windows down the corridors. There's also a great gift shop at AKL. We couldn't walk by without the kids wanting to make a stop. The CM's are great about letting the kids "play" the instruments. They loved it.

And one last thing, there is a small playground next to the pool. My kids, of course, loved that too.
