My family and I are going in August for the free DDP and I already made my ADRs for lunch or dinner. We tried to stick with dinner for TS, we'll use QS for lunch. For breakfast I'd like to bring cereal for in the room and just buy milk. but we're thinking of not checking any bags at airport so bringing cereal may not be an option. I'm curious as to how much cereal at the QS in the resort would cost us (family of 3). Or just any suggestions as to a quick, cheap breakfast?
Thanks!

When we went, we had the same issue with over flowing suitcases, and we didn't want to pay for breakfast at WDW.

What we ended up doing was packing cereal bars, since they take up less room, especially if you take them out of the box. We found the dining plan really filling, so we ended up using our snack credits to split fruit bowls some mornings to go with our breakfast bars, plus we had a refillable mug for juice and coffee.

I too am wondering what i should do. I have all TS booked for dinner, then we will have the counter service for lunch. I am figuring something very quick like a box of entenmanns donuts or muffins like the little bags of Little Bites for the kids (I know its not very nutritious but were on vacation and have to make it as simple as possible). I can usually wait until the early lunch.

I packed the little assorted boxes and paper bowls and spoons. We went down to the food court and bought one large milk each morning for our cereal. It was quick and cheap. We didn't rent a frig. this year. I think we ate cereal 4 mornings, QS one morning and TS one morning. On our arrival day we ate McDonald's breakfast at the airport. Very cheap as far as breakfast goes. My only complaint was the occasional 99 cent banana. That may be the biggest rip off at Disney.

You can also use your snack creditors for muffins, pastries, etc.

We usually bring poptarts and cereal bars and eat them in our room.

gardengrocer.com delivers (Minimum $40, $12 delivery fee) to all the resorts. If they arrive and your room is not ready, they will store it for you at the resort. I've used them in the past. I order mostly breakfast foods and snacks and a case of water. My son and I eat a light in room breakfast, have an earlier lunch and then have our sit down meal and snack before bed. Usually it's so hot we don't feel like eating a lot anyway.

I'm packing a box of cereal this year. I will use the CS drinks and save them in the fridge for breakfast.

Last year I packed cereal/granola bars, oatmeal pkg. and applesauce cups. My niece is lactose intollerant so she didn't eat any of that, but the applesauce cups. I used the hot water at the food court to make the oatmeal.

How will you bring back souvieners if you don't have room for a box of cereal?

We ended up using snack credits and sharing some Quick service meals and having enough food for all three meals. The food court breakfast platters were big enought that 2 fed 3. We shared some lunches too and never paid out of pocket for any food!

Thanks for all the great ideas!

Well, we're planning on not checking a bag but if we have to on the way back we will for souvieners.

If you "strategize" your quick service lunches (like order 2 ribs and chicken platters at Cosmic Ray's for 4 people), you'll find you don't need to use a credit for each person. This leaves you with extra quick service credits for breakfast, which you can then use to split breakfast platters among your party.

I find that if I have a buffet dinner, and share a breakfast and lunch platter -- and then have a snack -- I've still eaten WAAY more food than I would otherwise. In fact, we usually have to "cash out" a bunch of our snack credits at the end because nobody feels like a snack having eaten all the other meals.

you could either use a grocery delivery service or ship a box to the resort prior to your arrival.

One more idea....

I do pack a bunch of the little bowls of cereal now available at Target, and other stores. We drive to the local grocery store (we always rent a car!), buy milk, yogurt, sport bottles of water for the parks, liters of seltzer for the room.

Splitting extra CS and snack credits also works well.

We often share CS lunch so we have some extra CS to use for breakfast. We use snack credits for breakfast at the Main St Bakery & at Starring Rolls at DHS. You can also go to the Hess store near DTD to pick up some things. We did that last year. DH got some beer- much cheaper then at the resort- and we bought other food there too. :goodvibes
