What to do? Flying in and worried about weather delay/cxl affecting ADRs

Hello everyone,

We are leaving in two days (:cool1:) and with the threat of nasty weather over the next few days, I'm starting to wonder about the ADRs I have scheduled on the first few days of our trip. We have a late dinner ADR for our arrival night, we get into the area in the morning (I realize not the most ideal situation, but our only option for our schedule). We also have a VERY early ADR and other reservations (including BBB, PL and Harmony Barber Shop) for Day 2 of our trip.

Although our transportation has not been impacted yet (knocking on wood here), I remain very concerned that our plans may get bumped around.

I think there is little to no chance of moving these reservations now, but would you recommend cancelling them completely? Is there any chance (if we are delayed by weather) that we could recoup some of our $ that we prepaid if we end up missing our reservation. Or is there any way a CM might be able to squeeze us into a new time slot (mostly thinking about HDDR).

I don't want to lose what I've booked so far, but I also don't want to spend the money if the weather forces us to travel later than we planned.

Ahhhhhh, such a tough decision.

Anyone gone through this and has some suggestions? We are a party of six so it's not chump change! Ha Ha.

Thanks so much for any insight you can provide. Have a wonderful day and a happy Thanksgiving.

Best!!

I don't know what time your supposed arrival is or what time any of these are.

But I think you only need to worry about the actual day of arrival. By then you will know if you will make it to any others. By no means do I think you need to cancel ALL your ADRs right now. Unless there are some special things on there like a Candlelight Processional which is a 2 day cancellation, you only need to know one day ahead of time, and you didn't prepay unless it's a dinner show or CRT (I see you have HDDR - hopefully that is not on your arrival day). If you end up moving your entire trip to a different week, then yes, you will have to cancel and rebook everything.

Did you make the ADRs on the arrival day before 11/19? Did you put down credit cards for them? If you did for any on that first day I might consider cancelling it but I don't know what kind of time you had in between arrival and the ADRs originally.

I agree.

Unless you (OP) have the Candlelight Processional -- or another reservation requiring 48 hours cancellation -- on Day 2, you really only need to be concerned about your ADR on Day 1 (arrival day). Perhaps cancel that one so that you're not stressed about it, and you can try doing a walk-in (this awful east coast weather is bound to affect others) or rebook the dinner once you've landed at MCO.

What I learned here on DIS is that you have until before midnight (up to 1159p) on Day 1 to cancel your ADRs on Day 2, so let's just hope the weather cooperates, doesn't affect the rest of your trip, and you will be on track for the remainder of your ADRs.

Good luck and safe travels!

TDC Nala and DvF Diva,

Much appreciate your remarks. We leave the DC area and should arrive in Florida at/around 11 a.m. on Thursday morning. Our HDDR reservation is for Thursday at 6:15 p.m. I realize it was risky to make it on arrival date, but it was the only slot I could make work with some of my other reservations/plans. I made these at the 180 days out mark (so way back in May).

Do I understand you correctly that I have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday to cancel my HDDR reservation (on Thursday evening) without penalty?

Hopefully, but that time I'll have a better idea about the weather and see if it's worth the gamble to keep it or let it go.

After reading your comments and really thinking about it...I will leave Day 2 alone at this point.

We really really want to do HDDR, so I'm going to say a prayer that the weather (or other variables) don't affect our flight time too much. I (naively) thought that a 7+ plus hour window would allow plenty of time for a delay, but now I'm wishing I would have tried to work HDDR around another day/time.

Oh well, I'm so excited only two more days!!!!! :cheer2:

Thanks again y'all for the help/advice. It is warmly appreciated. :flower3:
