What to do first at Typhoon Lagoon?

We plan to be there before opening tomorrow and have a few questions:

Should we bring our room towels or rent them?

What attractions should we do first because they will get busy later?

We were thinking we'd spend around 4-5 hours there to have some down time before AK at night. Will that probably be enough time to do most everything?

Any recommended areas to get chairs in the shade? We will likely spend lots of time in the lazy river.

Also...has anyone recently taken the new route from the resort to Springs then to Typhoon? Planning on taking Uber back, but wondering about the time to the park?

I recommend the Crush 'N' Gusher first. There are different slides on it, and you have to wait for tubes, so doing it first is ideal. You can ride it multiple times early pretty easily. The Gangplank Falls family raft ride also gets a long line, but the way TL is laid out, it might be more convenient to go to the Humunga Cowabunga and the other slides in that vicinity first.

Both of those are really fun! Just make sure you lift your rear from the ground on Crush n Gusher.

We usually found a spot for our stuff near Crush N Gusher easier than finding a spot near the wave pool, plus it's close to the lockers.

For us, First is - get a locker. Second is - secure a chair on the 'beach' and Third is - whatever slide you like best. Not everyone's fav is Crush n Gusher. I have to say that the lazy river (whatever it's name is...) is so relaxing! For me, a must do.

We bring towels from the room. We do not rent a locker (we have a neck container to hold some cash and credit card). We go grab seats near the wave pool then hit the slides. We like to start with crush n gusher. Once the park gets busy we enjoy the wave pool and lazy river.

We usually get a spot moving toward the left nearer to the attractions. We always go to the beach after Disney so we have our own towels. Gangplank Falls is our first stop. The rafts and the load time causes the line to grow fast so if you like it do it again. We follow that with Keel Haul Falls and then to Crushin' Gusher. Crushin' Gusher has multiple slides. In my experience the storm slides have relatively short waits later on since there are three slides.

The shark reef usually opens at noon. Be aware that the line forms early.

A little after noon we usually hit the wave pool and then I demand my tube for Castaway Creek for some time.

We stayed about four hours last year and we hit what we wanted to do.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Followed many of them on Saturday and had a great 4.5 hour day. Ended up taking an über to and from the park to save time and took our resort towels. I'm pretty sure, according to the kids, we'll have to include a water park on each WDW trip now, there's no going back.
