What to do during the Pirate Cruise?

Our kids are going on the pirate cruise. They'll be gone for a couple of hours. What are some things the adults could enjoy close by during that time? (besides just breathing in the peace)

We took the monorail to the poly and had a nice relaxing lunch. It was like having a sitter for a couple of hours.

DH and I had some breakfast outside from the snack bar at the GF. We walked around the resort a little. Since DH bought a book with him and I bought a newspaper in the gift shop, we found a nice table over by the beach and just relaxed and read for a while. We also happened to watch 2 wedding parties. It was probably the only time we really got to realx the whole vacation. Those 2 hours go pretty quick! LOL

I had a nice breakfast (eggs benedict) and shopped in the GF gift shops :)

My first idea was to go swimming and sit by the pool - but we were staying at AKL and I found out pool hopping was a no no ;)

I didn't realize pool hopping was a no-no though I guess that makes sense. Not really fair to the guests staying at the actual site. What about laying out on the beach there while they cruise?

:rolleyes1 My husband I had a great breakfast at GF then we did
relax on the beach chairs . It was beautiful and no one seem to mind.
I hope beach hopping is okay??

DH and I rented a water mouse. We were staying at GF so we could have just gone to the room but we went and had breakfast because it was nice to know what we were eating for a change.

My DW keeps asking me what we should do while our DS6 is on the Pirate Cruise. My answer is always just "We'll figure it out when we get there". I answer this way because I don't want her to find out that I booked her for a surprise spa treatment at the GF Spa for a couple of hours during that time!! Now I wonder what I'm going to do when everyone is away!!

I thought about doing the same thing--sending DS5 and DS6 on the pirate cruise while DW gets the spa treatment, but I'll have to find something to do with DD3. Any ideas??

Well, my dopey DH (superdisneydad) didn't realize that our PC was logged into the "DIS" under my username, so he posted the above post under me, so now I found out his surprise!! Doesn't matter, though. I'll enjoy it anyway. What a sweet guy! I wondered why I married him!! :rotfl2:

As for your DD3, we're putting our DD3 in the Wonderland Tea Party at 1900 Park Fare at the GF. It's not at the same time as the Pirate Cruise, but it gives us an opportunity to have only 1 kid at a time for a while, and she'll love it! :cool1:

LOL.....now you can make sure he goes through with it ;)

Enjoy the spa treatment! I wish my DH would have thought of something like that for me! :)

love...Love...LOVE the spa idea! ::yes:: Maybe we could BOTH get a massage or something. How expensive is the spa? Any info or links to info on that?

What is the pirate cruse? Kids go without parents? Parents get time to 'relax'? Does anyone have a link I could check out?

thanks

Here's the website for the spa at Grand Floridian (& Saratoga):

The pirate cruise is a boat trip around Seven Seas Lagoon looking for lost treasure for kids 4-10 to take by themselves. It's about 2 1/2 hours long, parents get a beeper. They only take about 20 kids and it books up fast. (You can reserve 90 days out and I highly recommend you call first thing in the AM at that 90 day point) Most kids are about 5-7 yrs old. They make a few stops, get a Mickey pirate bandana and some treasure loot at the end. (They also get a lunch but most of the kids didn't eat it and bought it off the ship with them at the end) DS LOVED it!

This gives a great description of it: http://allearsnet.com/pl/grandadven.htm

:worship: Superdisneydad- What a wonderful thing to do for your wife. I hope that your family has a great time!
Tara ;)

We always just go on to the Magic Kingdom. Then when its about time for the pirates to come ashore, I'll hop the rail and pick him up. DH and DD stay in the Kingdom and ride a couple of things that are too "babyish" for our son. We then meet up in MK for the remainder of the day.
