Its great your son turned out to be ok . After my daughter was diagnosed all of my friends went out and bought glucose urine strips to check their kids out.. they were all so paranoid.
We had tons of Type 2 diabetics in our family but no type 1's.. the doctors were all confused but I guess someone has to be the first. That being said my ex was clueless about his family history and unwilling to find out but that and him are a whole other story.

yes.. a child can get type 2 but it is unusual because of what causes type 2. There are many causes but the most prevailant are being over 40, being over weight, and having a family history of type 2. When my daughter was in the hospital there was a type 2 16 year old in who was newly diagnosed. Also, they tested my daughter for both type 1 and type 2. We were told that there are more and more cases of type 2 kids since there are so many obese kids now.
