Hello again,
There is just so much information but it's getting hard for me to keep track.

Aside from spa services (which I am not wasting my time on while on a cruise, I can get them here at home) what else is there to do during the day at sea?

Thanks :sunny:

Hey
On your day at sea just relax! And if you are not the type who relaxes on a vacation there are PLENTY of activites for you to enjoy from shows to movies to games to towel and napkin folding! Or you can simply chill by the pool! But I wouldn't worry AT ALL days at sea ROCK! If you have a child there are plenty of activities to enjoy aswell..
If you have any questions feel free to ask
Thanks

I sent you a PM with Barb's website -- check out the Navigators to see activities offered on recent cruises. :)

You can also check out Navigators at www.dcltribute.com/navigators
We found that we could be as active or not as we wished. DH liked watching the water go by and DD & I laid out by the pool one afternoon. We also did the Art of Entertaining series on Decorative plate presentation and one on towel animals and the family did Bingo. We watched some of the family activities - frog races and something else and just enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.

We were on the Eastern with 3 days at sea and decided that at least one day at Sea is a requirement for any future cruise. And I just remembered that Palo Brunch is only offered on Sea Days. That's a good enough reason to book a cruise with a sea day for me.

Some of the things we did on sea days.
1) Wine tasting (only thing we did without the kids)
2) Watched movies.
3) Played shuffle board
4) Watched the ocean go by. (in front of the ship was my favorite spot)
5) Eat Breakfast
6) Attended Disney trivia contest
7) Attended briefings on each port of call
8) Eat Lunch
9) Character breakfast
10) Look at the silent auction items
11) 3 pm Ice Cream snack
12) 4 pm pizza/burger/chicken finger snack
13) Got to juggler show
14) Talk to my kids as my friends, not as my kids

Sea days are my favorites. Part of that time is always spent on my verandah with a good book. There are many other things to do. Some examples (not all from the same sea day):

  • A tour of the ship with one of the cruise staff. You get to laern lots of little insights about the ship. Very informative.
  • Galley tour - see where all those meals come from and how beautiful and clean they keep the space.
  • Ice carving up on deck. See how they make those wonderful ice displays.
  • Relax in Cove Cafe with a coffee drink if that is your thing. I never really saw it super crowded there.
  • Head to Diversions for a game of backgammon.
  • Play shuffleboard on deck 4
  • Relax in those comfy chairs on deck 4.
  • Check out the shops - usually much less crowded on sea days then on nights after the show lets out.
  • Enjoy Palo Brunch (fee)
  • Enjoy High Tea (fee)
  • Enjoy a wine tasting (fee)
Those are ones just off the top of my head. We don't have kids so I don't know of all the families activities. I know they have frog races and family animation.

Even if you don't go on the formal tour of the ship I would definately walk around all the decks and check out the art etc. Disney really puts a lot of thought into everything that is on the ship.

Don't forget, the only place you can get DCL items is essentially on the ship. So,,,,,Buy on the ship. You can't go back. (unless you rebook a cruise) That was my mistake. I am now booked for two more cruises and believe me , I WILL be buying Cruise line items.

This was the day that scared me the most about our cruise! We had never cruised and I was afraid of being bored and being "stuck" a ship with no where to go! Well was I wrong - after 2 very busy days on shore with excursions we were so happy to be able to sleep in and do nothing! We did not have to be anywhere at a certain time and it was so relaxing.

We actually made it to a few of the onboard activities - family putting contest and then the chipping contest in the Atrium. The kids went from pool to pool and ate and ate and ate!

It was one of the best days!

I would have to say that if Bingo is offered on your day at sea (or any other day for that matter), then definitely go do it. We did, and had a lot of fun. The best part was the person actually calling bingo...he was a riot and a lot of fun!

With the way my kids don't like getting off the ship for any reason, we turn port days into half days at sea. :) We have been on two cruises so far and have the third one booked for this December. Also if you have little ones, there are alot more character appearances on sea days starting in the morning. The kids loved going to those.

Can kids do the bingo or just adults? I think my son would have a blast.

Kids can play Bingo, they just can't claim the prize if they win. You or someone over 18 must be present.

You've had some great suggestions, but I wanted to add that the Vista Spa was really, really excellent. I am fairly spoiled and enjoy spa services when not on vacation, but there was something really special about the facial and massage I had at sea! Maybe it was the motion of the ship, but I was more relaxed than I ever have been before. (I also slept great on the cruise :earsboy: )Totally worth the $.

Even if you don't go on the formal tour of the ship I would definately walk around all the decks and check out the art etc. Disney really puts a lot of thought into everything that is on the ship.
As many already know, I take the stairs everywhere on the ship (motivation: more deserts :mickeybar  )

I thought that I had been on EVERY stairway on the Magic (the only ship I've sailed on from the 4 nighters back in the beginning to the present 7 nighters). On our last cruise my entire family decided that this was the first time in a couple of stairways because NONE of us could remember those particular pieces of art (not just my early altzheimers kicking in). Next cruise we will have to make sure that we have covered all of the stairway going to deck one (been on a few of them but I don't think I've been on them all;)

If you are on a 7 nighter (or longer) they have the three "Art Of..." adult tracts (Entertainment, Entertaining and Navigator) which all have some very fun and informative "classes" that run about 1 hour each.
