I am in the process of booking my families first time cruise - we have a choice of Cat. 11 and 12 since they are both available. I will be booking 2 staterooms one for me, DH, & 2 DD ---- and the other for my DD, DS, & niece. :flower:

Cat. 12 is $200 cheaper than Cat. 11 – but staying in Cat. 12 might not be the stateroom will get at the end we may be upgraded – which is a good thing if both of our rooms can be upgraded by each other – but I am sure that is impossible. Do I stay in our assigned Cat. 11, which are next to each other or save the money and book the Cat. 12. Like I said this is our first cruise ever and I am a bit confused. :confused3

What it make a difference if we're near each other - i figure we won't be in our rooms much, right?

Maybe we will both get lucky and get a great upgrade for the price of Cat. 12. We are also doing DW for a couple of day - so money will be tight - i am just confused!!!
One more thing the cat. 11 that is available is on
deck 6 where as Cat.12 is on deck 2 – which is better?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!! :earboy2:

Hi, I would go the cheaper route. But that is my only way of getting on the boat... :goodvibes

But, as confusing a person that I am, I just reread your post. For the $200 I would book the 11's for two reasons. They are on deck 6, and it is a great location. Not too far up or down.... And we were very rarely in our rooms, so it did not bother us to be in a 11. We were four... THe last cruise we had a verandah due to a special, but I will not hesitate to book a cat 11 again....

Hope I did not mess U up even more... :flower:

We booked 2 cat. 12's & they could not guarantee me that we would be near each other. It is myself, DH, DD, DS & MIL. Our reservations were "linked" (whatever that means) & we had the same last name.

When I got my docs, my MIL is on the other end of the ship. Same deck 2, but still if I had to do it again, I would have booked the Cat. 11.

Just my opinion.

We have taken one Eastern and one Western, both in category 11 cabins. It's been myself, my husband, and 2 DD both times. We have found that we have plenty of room for all 4 of us, even with the girl's evening wear and other assorted belongings. The catregory 11 rooms have the second bathroom and the inside cabins are very dark in the morning, a great bonus for sleeping in after late nights.

While you may not be in your rooms much, having them next to each other will make things much easier for meeting to go anywhere IMO. Also, the deck 6 location is a great one. I would go for that.
