We will be at Universal in just three more days...We will be getting a 14-Flex pass...I am sure that it will rain 1 or more of the days that we will be at Universal. Any suggestions of things to do at the park if it does rain? We have never been so we are clueless.
thanks

I don't think all that many rides are impacted by rain. Lightning in the area may shut down the obvious coasters and such, but for the most part even then most of the attractions will be unaffected. Many attractions at both parks are indoors.

Experts feel free to correct me. :thumbsup2

As by Universal Orlando rule all outdoor attractions will shut down if there is lightning within 5 miles of the parks. At the parks, this includes:

IOA
Hulk
Doctor Doom
Ripsaw
Blutos
Jurassic Park
Pteranadon Flyers
Flight of the Hippogriff
Dragon Challenge
Sky Trolley
One Fish Two Fish

Caro-Suess-el and Storm Force close only if the rain is so strong that rain is getting on either turntables.

USF
Rockit
Jaws
Kidzone Area

If it's scheduled for rain (although lightning storms in Florida are brief) maybe spend a couple hours in the other park. But all rides can operate in rain only, it's lightning that causes them to close.

It does rain quite a lot sometimes. Several trips I have taken, you could almost count on the rain in the afternoon like clockwork. We typically just get into "deal" with it mode. Meaning wearing swim suit type clothes and just get wet. Ride the water rides etc.

Most of the attractions at both parks are not impacted by weather so you should be OK to enjoy the day. As Mesaboy stated...only the outdoor attractions (coasters & water rides) are affected by weather. If lightening is detected within five miles of the park, they will shut down but if it's just rain, probably not. We are getting much needed rain this week but it's mainly in the later afternoon/evening.

Hulk will usually close in a heavy rain (without lightning). The water can sometimes mess with the launching system.

Weather doesn't close the inside attractions, HOWEVER...the lines for those can get swarmed when the other rides are shut down. Even express and singles were long for rides like Spiderman and Forbidden Journey. Still, you're inside out of the rain. :goodvibes

Yeah Spideyfreak is correct, rain will sometimes shut down Hulk. Reasoning being is that the trains get too wet and the launch tires can't get a good grip on the train so it estops the train in the launch tube.

And Spiderman and his friends don't come out in the rain. My 3 year old DS is a HUGE spiderman fan and I was super disappointed that he didn't get to meet him, but I guess we will just have to go back!

Also this is the begining of hurricane season so rain can be expected but like others said there are alot of indoor rides or you could hang out in the shops and look around :thumbsup2

If want to ride a coaster in the rain, don't go on the front row ;)

This is a wise comment went on Furious Bace which is a fast launch coaster in Portaventura spain and swore all the way round whilst trying to cover my face from the needlelike rain that was whacking in it:scared1:It was very painfull they shut it down after we went on:eek: Saying that if I could get straight on a ride because it was raining I would still probably go on it and deal with the pain!!Glutton for punishment,

This times 1000.

Back in 2009 when I went to Universal Studios the first ride we went to was the rip ride rockit, the sky was overcast when we entered the queue and we got on the ride 20 minutes later, while we loaded it began to rain, not very hard though. So I was in the front row of our train, the moment we get to that 90 degree hill climb, I was like, oh how nice, rain. Then we go down the hill. I felt like I was getting pelted in the face with little rocks the enitre time...

I don't think I've seen it mentioned, but if it does begin to rain, you can use this time to check out some of the shows such as Sinbad's Journey at Islands of Adventure and (my favorite!) The Horror Makeup Show at Universal studios!
