I am taking my Mom and sister(they are flying in from In. to get out of the cold) to Vero Beach. What is around there? Looking for cheap things to see and do. They are coming down the end of Jan. What is at the resort to do? Thanks for any info you can give me.

All we seem to do at Vero is lay around and walk on the beach. We always go down figuring we'll stay busy with activites but once I hit that pool that's it. I just chillax.

We too will be doing an all adult trip - next year. It will be our first time and I am wondering what there is to do. We will most likely go in the fall, so it will still be warm.
We are also interested in knowing about restaurants in the area.
Where do folks fly in to? We will be coming from the northeast.
TIA

I'd fly into Melbourne (not the only choice) if you can afford the prices -- they're usually high and rent a car and drive down to Vero.

For day trips, you can go up to Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach and Cocoa Village, Melbourne has a zoo, beaches, restaurants, a small downtown with some shops (it's not much unless they've greatly improved it since 2006). I don't know what's south of Vero until you get to West Palm and Lauderdale, so I'm not much help that direction!

There's the Treasure Museum in Vero or Sebastian (shipwreck stuff). Lots of nature - kayaking excursions on the Indian River.

I know others have posted some good restaurants, but I don't know which they were. The only ones I know are Squid Lips and Capt. Hiram's -- I'd pick Squid Lips of those two.

Squid Lips??? I am not sure my mom would go to a place like that. How will I explain that? Is Squid Lips like Buffalo Wings?:rotfl:

There are outlet mall one exit south of the exit you take to get to VB from Orlando. I don't know how good they are.

Melbourne is the closest most convenient airport. It is small with Delta being the only large carrier. However most fly into Orlando due to price and direct flights. West Palm Beach is another option with the distance being similar to Orlando.

We have kids so can't really advise what to do. Although if I didn't have kids I would want to lie on the beach an read a book. (High goals I know!) We did go on a Kayak tour that was good for all ages.

Now restaurants... Many have suggested the Ocean Grill as a nice dinner out. We haven't been since it was more of a nice dinner and we had the kids. Squid Lips is a popular choice for casual. We like to go to Capt. Hiriam's Sand Bar. Kids like the outdoor, toes in the sand setting and we like the view and the drinks. We went to a Jamaican Restaurant called Mo-Bay Grill last time and we quite happy with the food, service and variety (remember have kids, also a vegetarian DH)
