What should I carry with me on the ship and excursions? I'll want my phone, money (credit and cash), my liscense.... What else?

To get onto the ship you will need your passport or Birth certificate and State issued ID (license)

Once on the ship you will need your KTTWC for purchases and whatever else you want to carry

On excursions you will need your KTTWC, ID and whatever else you want to carry.

Check in on the ship was easy. They just wanted to see the passports and the signed online check in form. I was just complaining to my husband that I didn't really need anything in the booklet they sent me. It makes me sad to keep looking at it! =)

Have fun!

If you're planning to bring on your allotment of wine and beer, it goes in your carry-on bag only - not in checked luggage.

I would also carry on our prescription medication and any valuables.

I think OP was wondering what sort of things would be necessary to carry around onboard. Not what to carry onboard at embarkation.

I was thinking on board and for excursions but hearing on embarkation was helpful too! I'm honestly just trying to decide what type of bag I should get for excursions and walking around the ship so I'm thinking about what other people carry with them :)

No, to debark the ship and return you'll just need your KTTW card and (for those 18 and over) a photo ID.

Is it a good idea to bring your passport too incase you got stranded for some reason? Or should I worry about losing it at Atlantis?

Most ports don't require a passport while ashore. That being said, there are several here who feel "I'm in a foreign country, I'm carrying my passport."

It's up to your comfort zone.

If you leave your passport on the ship, just be sure it's in the safe. If, for some reason, you don't make it back to the ship, the ship's security officer will enter your room, open the safe, and remove any necessary IDs in there to leave with the port agent. That's where you would pick them up, if you miss the ship.

Well, my husband and I usually just use one backpack for our onshore necessities. That's if we want to bring his big camera, or towels for a water excursion. If we're just doing a bus tour, or walking around, I always have pockets in my clothes. I typically carry my KTTW card and driver's license. Also my camera, but it's always in my hand. Don't really need much more. My husband usually will bring along a credit card, maybe a little cash if we think we're going to buy something.

We take a simple tote that carries our wine on embarkation (It's an old DCL tote) and a pouch with all of our documents. This same tote goes throughout the ship with us and while onboard just holds our Tervis tumblers, towel clips, sunblock and the like. When getting off in ports it will hold baby wipes, sunblock, wallet with IDs and cash and on CC it will hold beach toys and towel clips again.

On the ship I often have a tote for my pool stuff: sun screen, book, hat, sun glasses and my cheap waterproof watch (the adult pool does not have a clock).

If you are a person that likes to have water bottles on hand, then you'll need room for that, too. Also, I'd recommend one of those folding tote bags that you can slip into your bag for purchases on your excursion (if you're going on that type of excursion). If you're going somewhere that you'll be purchasing photos, you might want to bring something that you can put them in so they won't get wrecked in your tote.

If you bring 2 bottles of wine on board can you also bring a few bottle waters?

You may bring onboard as much soda/water/non alcoholic beverages as you wish. Just needs to be in your carry on bags, not checked.

Question - why do you think you need to bring on bottled water?

Probably for the same reason as I have to bring it on or order it onboard for my wife. I have not been able to convince her that bottled water is pretty much the same water that comes out of the taps on the ship. Also the bottled water industry has done a pretty good job of convincing a lot of people that bottled water comes from natural springs.

OK, just wondering.

We tried something new this last time. We went to "Five Below" a local chain store, like a dollar store, but things cost $5 or less. We bought our two teenage sons each a $5 backpack. This was a revelation to us. No brainer, perhaps for others. That way, whatever they wanted to bring, towels, extra shoes, water, packaged food, whatever, could go in their backpacks and we didn't have to worry about it. And if it did get lost, well, it was only a $5 backpack. Actually, they were quite nice. Since they didn't get lost, I think they will get a lot more use out of them.

You might say, how did you convince them to agree to it, but after some initial arm-twisting, they warmed up to the idea. Started carrying them around the ship too.
