Hello,

I am wondering what we should be bringing for clothing the 2nd week in Feb. We are from VT, and have no idea what the temps will range down in Orlando. Any help would be great! :sunny:

You can have highs in the 80's.
At night it can be in the low 40's/upper 30's with howling winds and humidity.

Those are the EXTREMES, but they can be a very real possiblilty.

I am not from the South, I know that low 40's does not sound too bad for folks from up North.

But consider that you may be standing STILL and out in the open at night for a half-hour or even LONGER to watch some of the outdoor shows at night.

You don't do that kind of thing at home. You can become very chilled under those conditions.

Bring LAYERS of outer clothing JUST IN CASE you get a cold snap and don't want to just SIT in a hotel room and wait it out.

We like the zip-on gym warm-up suits that are nylon on the outside with a soft lining.
You can put these on over your SHORTS (or jeans) that you wore in the warm daytime and continue your fun at night.

Sweatshirts help and so do heavy "letterman"-type jackets.
Windbreakers for less extgreme temps.

We go PREPARED (we've found you can't buy gloves at WDW when you want them).

Robo pretty much nailed it.

I always add the one other "issue" - are you warm blooded, or cold blooded. When I'm running around at WDW, I find that I don't need to many clothes - I might have shorts and tshirt, while my wife might have a long sleeve t/sweatshirt & a jacket.

We went last Feb 7, and most of the time we got away with jeans and a shirt, and then sweatshirt and/or jacket for early morning and late evening.

I went in January once and didn't pack heavy enough because 40s and 50s sounded pretty warm to me, being from Wisconsin. What I didn't realize is that Florida has a damp cold. It's so dry here in winter and that damp cold just sinks into your bones. So definitely bring gloves and heavy sweatshirts in case you need them. If not, no biggie! We're going Feb 12, maybe our trips will overlap?

I'm from southern Alabama and our winter has been quite mild. We do get the occasional cold day but I don't think we have been under 50 degrees (day) this winter.Today in fact was in the low 70's. I would pack a couple of sweatshirts or light jacket and jeans/shorts. You can always put the s.shirts in a locker or tie them around your waist. The weather channel will give you a two week forcast to kind of give you an idea. :)

Thanks for all your help. I will be keeping an eye on the weather channel, as I am very obsesed about our upcoming trip!! :goodvibes

I will bring the extra warm clothing too.

I have another question. How much is it to rent a locker? And do they have them at all the parks?

pants, definitely bring pants. They frown on going bottomless.

Weather in Feb can be very iffy. I can be 30 in the mornings and 80 in the afternoons. It can stay chilly all day, too. We can also have a burst of showers and you wind up soaking wet with no changes of clothes. Pack for all temperatures. The best is layers. You can always put on or remove them as the weather changes. :sunny: :cold: :umbrella:

Absolutely, and they really make sense when using the "layered clothing system".

We revisit the locker a couple of times per day to either put in or take out extra clothing. (You can open the locker as many times as you want without having to "add" any money.)

There is a locker station near the front (after you're inside the gates) of every park.

Its $7.00 per day (or so) to rent, but you get $2.00 BACK when you return the key.

If you park-hop, just keep your first locker's receipt and you can get another locker at the next (and the next) theme park (that SAME DAY) for no extra charge (except another refundable $2 key deposit.)

Lockers are our friends in the Fla. winter.

We have been to WDW once in Jan and twice in Feb. We will never travel again without fleece! The trip in Jan was the best weather (go figure!) never had to wear more than a sweatshirt in the evenings. But the two Feb trips had extremes. One day we were at Blizzard Beach and the next day we were wearing hats, gloves and fleece! It can get downright cold at night, especially during the spraying mist parts of Fantasmic! So we take everything, bathing suits, shorts, jeans, sweatshirts and fleece!

OK, being the psycho-nut-case that I am...I have it figured out what the average high, average low, average average is for each day that we are there...We will be there from 2/8 - 2/15 and the average high (for the past 9 years) is 72º, average low is 54º, average average is 62.5º, I wont trouble you with the little details but... My sugestion is those knit mittens that you can get for a dollar! I did not have mine last year and my hands were cold!!! Have a great time!! :hourglass

You know the old story about "average" temperatures, right?

If you are told to put one bare foot in a bucket of ice (32d F), and the other bare foot in boiling water (212d F), then, on AVERAGE, you should feel GREAT! :teeth:

That's the problem... there are "extremes" possible at either end and at any time in the Fla. winter.

At a cold, damp and windy IllumiNations, it just doesn't WORK to say,
"Don't shiver, dear, just remember how warm you were this afternoon."
or,
"Last year, it was 64 degrees on this date... something must be BROKEN"

Feb in FL is like April in VT. Could be cold, could be warm, could rain, could be dry - LOL!

Bring a few short sleeved shirts and shorts/capris, a few pants, and long sleeved shirts a sweatshirt and light jacket and you'll be fine :)
