What time will we be at the world?

We arrive at MCO at 2:40pm and was wondering how long will it take us to get through passport control, baggage, getting car hire and driving to the world. We are staying in Disney and are planning on going straight into a park once checked in.

I'd allow 2 hours...to get to your hotel...

I would say the 2 hours is pretty fair.... I've never gone thru customs, but once you get thru, and get to baggage claim, you should have your baggage within a half hour... it usually takes about a half hour to get thru the car rental sitch and get the car, get it loaded and sorted... about a half an hour to drive to the property... it can take anywhere from 15 min to an hour to check in, depending on the resort, time and day you arrive and general luck.

NOT going thru customs, the fastest I've ever made it from walking off the plane to walking thru the MK gates is 2 hours - and that is at a FULL RUSH.

I have also found that the bigger a hurry I'm in, the longer everything seems to take... if I take it easy, I'm at the park before I know it.

thank you, 2hrs seems like a good estimate, there are only two of us so we don't have to round up the troops should be in hollywood studios for 6pm

I think 2 hours is ambitious and it's more likely to be 3 hours. A lot will depend on how many international flights have arrived around the same time as your arrival. If you're on the VS flight from Manchester keep in mind that VS also has three daily 747's from London, BA has has a flight from London and Lufthansa will be in from Frankfurt. There can be a lot of people flooding Immigration and Customs at the same time.

Another time-waster is in many cases you have to do Baggage Claim twice. You'll get your baggage the first time at Customs which is out in the airside building. Once you clear you're supposed to give your luggage back to the reps there who will transport it to the other Baggage Claim inside the main terminal. Meanwhile you go upstairs and take the train from the airside building to the main terminal. They used to force you to give your luggage back. My understanding is that they had so many complaints that although they encourage it, you can insist that you want to keep it and then carry it with you on the train. If you're traveling fairly light, I encourage that because it could save you 30-45 minutes of having to wait a second time for your suitcases. If successful, that would perhaps keep your journey closer to that 2 hours.
