What time to leave Anaheim and head NW?

OK, so what time do I have to leave Anaheim to head up north to avoid too much traffic? Thinking of taking 91 to 405, then 405 to 1 at Santa Monica, and then up the coast from there.

Any locals out there who can help?

Going north we have found anything after 0600 it just gets more rediculous even on a Sat morning. We just jump on the 5 and go.
