What time to do Tusker House?

I had a 10:35 booked at th but was able to move our fop from 5:40 pm to 10:50am. I’m trying to decide what to do with my th reservation now. I can either do 8:30am or 11:25 am. I really want to do breakfast and lunch but don’t see that working with our FP now.

I didn't read all of the posts...I am sure the recommendation is to get to Pandora early then do breakfast. After riding FoP twice on our last trip in Dec there is no way I could do FoP with something on my stomach again. So if anyone is reading this..beware...fantastic, awesome ride and I think I am pretty good with rides....but I certainly wouldn't ride it after a meal. In fact DH says he never has to ride it again and we had a FP well after breakfast.

I personally don't do breakfast at the parks. For me, they just aren't special or different foods and I don't want a "big" breakfast before walking and riding all day. To me it is just a big waste of time that COULD make you miss rope drop. So you either are rushed through breakfast trying to be done before rope drop or the front gate lets people in early (because of crowding) and you will not beat the crowds anyway (or both).

Agreed.

And I read further that the OP is going with his 2 year old. I wouldn’t do a character breakfast first thing in the morning with a toddler. My som was iffy with those sorts of things when he was little, and it could really mess with our days. And that was Disneyland with resorts so much closer than May Wdw...

My wife and I are going with our 2 year old son, so we know we want to take a mid day break to the resort and come back. We will be going to Pandora for sure at 5:00 for our FOP FP. If we don't want to wait more than 20-30 mins for Na'vi River Journey I figured that will only happen right in the early morning. Will lines be down later early evening for River Journey?

If you can, watch the wait times for late evening to see what Na'vi is doing these days. I'm fairly certain if you wait until after your FoP FP, the lines for Na'vi will be down to something you can tolerate.

I wouldn't do the 11:25 as there are too many variables that could make you late and then you would be stressing over that time instead of enjoying FoP. Do the 8:30.

Okay thanks. I couldn’t get the 8:30 with a ROL package but the 11:25 was. Does that make a difference?
If we do the 8:30 will we be able to go and eat at 8? I was told we could check in early since it’s before the park opens. We’ve never done an early breakfast like that before.

Wow! Thanks for such a high level of response everyone! My wife and I are going to choose to keep the 9:45 breakfast res. so we can check out Pandora at rope drop before we eat!

With a 10:50 FP for FoP, you will be RUNNING to make an 11:25 ADR. It's still a bit of a haul to get from the end of FoP to Tusker. I just would not want that kind of stress. Maybe keep checking for a later ROL package.

With the 8:30, yes, you can check in early.

We learned our trip last week that you could up spending a LONG time at Tusker if you have breakfast that isn’t 8am, and want to meet Mickey. They sat us at 8:20, just after Micky had passed. We had been in for 20 mins before the first character arrived (8:45), and we waited an additional 45 before Mickey left our room. We had been there an hour and 15 minutes when he left the first big room to go and start on the side room. Our waitress asked the handler if we could see him before he started that room, or we would have been there a REALLY long time waiting. He just moves very slowly, since so many people spend a lot of time getting photos with him.

So if my reservation is at 8:30, could I check in and be seated at 8? Our niece said Mickey is her least favorite character so she might not want to meet him anyway.
