Are you intending staying at the park to watch Candleabration each day? If the official park closing time is 6pm, Candleabration will start at 6pm, go on for 15 minutes or so, then you'll be in the rush of people exiting the park. So to get to dinner at any of the restaurants after Candleabration at 6pm, I'd suggest booking for no earlier than 6.30pm (we did 7.45 reservation for Cafe Mickey when the park closed at 7pm, stopping to watch Candleabration, and that worked out pretty well for timing).

You can't book Annettes in advance, so it may be worth your while eating there around 6pm on a day when you don't want to watch Candleabration (ie
before the main rush to exit the park). Annettes is a very popular restaurant, and so you can queue for quite a while just after the park closes (its also the first restaurant you come to in the Village from the parks).

For the hotel restaurants (like the Chuck Wagon) my experience there has been that you get a much more pleasant dining experience if you either aim to be choosing your buffet food just before the park closing time, or at least a couple of hours after - the main queues at the restaurants seem to be just after the park closes.

Are you going to DLRP in summer high season? Its just that, I don't think you can book Lucky Nugget for dinner, only lunch, outside summer high season.

Okay, well as a general rule, the restaurants in the Village and at your hotel will be busiest just after the official park closing time + 20 minutes (for Candleabration).

so, if the park is closing at 8:00, then

Monday Annette's at 6:30 should be great, will avoid the rush.

Wednesday at Cafe Mickey for your birthday seems like a good time at 6:15 too

Thursday at Lucky Nuggett I believe this generally closes an hour before the park closes. So, if the park closes at 8:00 then this would close at 7:00.

Maybe make this an early meal too? Say if you ate at 6:00 that day, then you would have time to have a leisurely meal and still get outside to see Candleabration (based on your eating time on Mon & Wed, I would assume that you will be missing out on that show, unless you were thinking of trying to get back into the parks to see it?)

Are you staying at Hotel Cheyenne? Otherwise, I'm not sure if Chuck Wagon is on your "must do" list. If it is, I guess whatever time you want to be settled back at your hotel. If the parks close at 8:00, you could plan on eating at say 7:30 and just being done for the night while beating the rush.

Hi Stick,

I've just had a look at the opening times for when you are at DLRP in May - on the 12th the park is open until 8pm, but from the 13th onwards its 7pm.

Hope this helps with your dinner plans,

Elaine

I wouldn't bank on the Lucky Nugget being open late afternoon, as far as I'm aware it's only summer peak season and I've asked several times, but the answer has always been no to dinner being available,it's been lunch only even when the park was open until 9.00/10.00pm last Christmas season. Might be worth a call to double check before you make any definate plans:)

Do you mean the Nugget has limited hours year round? Or that it is not open at all during low season?

What kind of hours do you think it generally keeps?

When the park closes early it is usually only open at lunch times til about
4.00ish. Sometimes even when the park is open later it is still only open for lunch.

We have often eaten our main meal at lunch times as we see it as a break from the park and crowds and dont feel we are losing out on park time as we see the restaurants as part of the experience
