We will be driving from San Jose to Anaheim. What time do you think we should leave to be there when it opens ? I was thinking 3 AM. What do you think ?

Are you going when I'm going???? We are leaving Sat. the 3rd (just got the time off for DBF, without him even knowing!! LOL I asked his boss yesterday) we are going to leave when we get up, probably somewhere around 8-10 so we won't be there at opening, it will probably take us about 6 hrs so we will get there around 2-4, I'm thinking if you guys left at 3 am then yes, you would get there around 8 am.

I think we're gonna stick with going on friday - sunday, we might do Saturday - Monday, who knows ! Its still kind of up in the air :)

Well we should still have some time in the parks together. :) Unless I'm being a total freaky stalker PITA and you want nothing to do with me! LOL :) We will be there part of Saturday and all of Sunday. :)

Heeyyy! What days are you guys (both Kerri and Jasmine!!) going to be there?! Are we talking December?

ETA: Ahh doodoo, I just realized you're both talking about January!!

You guys are going to be tired when you get to DLR... or are you planning on taking turns driving & dozing?

Yikes! I thought it was hard leaving from my sister's house by 6am to get to Disneyland before opening. I can't imagine driving from up here to Anaheim and then go to DL. I would be so tired! :rotfl:

It takes us 5 1/2 to 6 hours to get to DLR from San Jose, usually making one quick gas/potty/Starbucks stop. So if you leave at 3 am, you will hit LA around 8:00. If you are traveling on a week day, you will be right in the middle of comuter traffic, which can be scarey!
We usually try to leave SJ between 5 and 6 am, to avoid that traffic. And we are still there in time to have lunch with the Mouse.

We're planning on switching :) I've gone to DLR on about 3 hours of sleep... I actually did that on the day of MTOTP haha !!!

HAHA !!! I knowwwww. I'm SO used to flying; this is definitely gonna be different for me ;)

HRMMMM. Thats a good idea ! We'll see what happens! I'm glad we're driving because we might extend our stay by one day, so maybe we'll leave later from here !

Hi ,

I am from San Jose also and we drive all the time down south . I think the best thing that works for my family and I is that we usually leave around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Now your probably going that’s nuts but it works out great the only down fall is that you have to pay for a extra nights stay because you don’t get there till around 9 or 10 at night. With us it takes a little longer because of the kids but you hit no traffic what so ever maybe a TINY bit in LA but its smooth sailing the whole way and there isn’t as many cars on the road . What I also like about leaving in the afternoon is you get a full nights sleep and are ready to have a full day of fun the next day. I find it when you leave really early in the morning I am much more tired and don’t enjoy the day as much . I hope this helps good luck:wizard:

Thank you :) This is good to know. Maybe we'll change it up and try out HOJOs to save money !

girl we left at 7am on a thursday and got there at 12:30pm (we did stop for half an hour to eat..so only 5 hours of driving!) and had nooooooooo traffic at all. i wouldnt recommend leaving THAT early at 3am cuz you'll just be too tired to enjoy your day....but maybe leave at like 5 am and get there around 10. you're going in jan right? so you dont really need to be there right when DL opens anyways b/c the park wont be packed, and those couple extra hours could be spent sleeping or resting so you could stay laaaate at night til they close w/out being dead tired. whoa that was a long sentence! haha but thats what i think;) good luck!:goodvibes

Thanks :)

I was talking to the big guy about it and we're thinking of doing Saturday - Monday, then leaving Tuesday morning. The only reason I want to get there early is because we're going the last weekend of the Christmas decor and it is the weekend after New Years which falls VERY close to the weekend. I'm anticipating people staying over the weekend at DLR. I'm hoping Monday will be a good remedy to not hitting the rides that don't have holiday decorations in 'em. Who knows though !

That's why I picked that weekend to go Jasmine. We will drive down Saturday, long leisurely drive with NO kids!! I'm considering going 101 because we've never gone that way. Get to the parks Saturday afternoon, get our AP's processed and try to ride HMH and IASWH on Saturday and on Sunday and then we can get everything else done over the Monday-Thursday part of our trip. :) I'm hoping that the crowds are gone by Tuesday because school is back in session on Monday. I hope it works out for us both!! :)

I KNOW ! After doing MTOTP with big crowds, I'd really like the park to be kind of slow for a change :)
