What time should I book Remy/Palo?

On my upcoming honeymoon cruise I want to eat at Palo and Remy for dinner, but I don’t want it to interfere with us seeing the shows. What time should I book them so I can do both without feeling rushed?

Semi related question, which menu would be good to skip on the Fantasy? It’ll be our first time on this ship, but we’ve been on the Dream and Magic. I’m not a big fan of the MDR food, the one thing I don’t want to miss is the truffle pasta

The Palo bruch is wonderful. We also did the Remy brunch twice, it was nice.

Last first - book Palo/Remy for Pirate night. The menu in the MDR that night isn't very good and, if you are over all the pirate stuff, the antics are missable.

As far as timing goes, I'd plan on an early show time followed by dinner. So perhaps an 8 pm reservation time?

We had a 6:30 pm Remy reservation and still made the 8:30 pm show. That being said, we didn't do any wine pairings nor did we really linger over dinner. If you don't want to rush, I would plan on going to the 6:15 pm show and try to make your reservations for 7:45/8:00 pm. This gives you plenty of time to see the show (which are about an hour long) and get up to Remy and Palo.

I always book Palo (don't do Remy...I'm gluten-free and don't eat fish or weird birds) at around the same time as my regular MDR time. That way I know I'm good to go for the show if I want to (production shows, yes..."comedians" or magicians? ew, gross - big time no).

You can book it for whenever you want. There’s nothing saying you HAVE to go to one show time or another. We usually do late dining so we book Remy/Palo for around 8pm and go after the show. If you do want to go to a late show, keep in mind Remy is often a 3 hour ordeal so book a time around 5:00-5:30.

My favorite Remy hack I learned on my last cruise - they will allow you to split one wine pairing between two people!

Have a great honeymoon cruise!!

I don’t want to miss is the truffle pasta

First, congrats on planning your honeymoon - so much relaxation and fun after the wedding crush

Second, so let's talk about your truffle pasta priority - this means you want to be sure to be at the MDR on the first visit to AP. What that suggests is don't book your Remy Palo visits (I highly recommend both on your first visit/honeymoon) on the first three nights...but you won't know which night is AP unless you request a rotation (and even then it isn't assured).

So you may want to consider adjusting your plans (or adding visits) once you see your rotation (you'll know BEFORE you board in the port) - while I have found the dining line on embarkation day one of the longest waits of the whole cruise, it can be worth it!! Many times you can adjust your plans or add visits (your booking limits apply to online only), especially if your request is just a table for 2. I suggest you take whatever online spots you can get for Remy Palo and make changes as needed once onboard to be sure you get your truffle pasta AND enjoy the special dining experiences of the adults only locations

Thank you! I couldn’t remember which restaurant had that pasta dish. I’ll be sailing in concierge so I’m guessing they’ll be able to help me if I need to change things around. I’ll make sure I don’t book anything the first three nights, I’m not requesting a dining rotation

Thanks! If I do an earlier time and mentioned we want to make the show would they help with that? Does Palo take as long as Remy? 8pm is normally way to late to eat for me but I don’t want to miss the show. Last time I went to Remy I booked it for the pirate night since I figured there wouldn’t be a show with the pirate party

How long would you say Palo normally lasts?

Actually pretty sure if you're concierge you CAN request a dining rotation.

I don’t really know what I would request though. Not sure what people normally request since I never have

Well, if you want to start with the truffle pasta, request AP night 1. OR if you want a specific MDR on Pirate Night OR Formal Night (etc.) you could request that. I'd only do one though as multiple ones (like AP night 1 and a given one on Formal Night) might contradict each other. Concierge will make things happen, but NOT putting you on a totally different rotation to everyone else.

What’s a good one to request for formal or pirate night?

It all depends on what you want. I personally love AP for Pirate Night - the mood just fits better IMHO. But other people who don't like that menu and book Palo or Remy for that night would pick a different MDR rotation - or just not deal with it if they aren't under a requirement to not miss a particular dish.

Do they show pirate movie clips in AP on the pirate night?

When you book Remy and Palo, just mention to shoreside concierge that you want to make sure you don't miss the first menu at AP. They will adjust for you. When we did Remy I told them I didn't want it on an AP night (because we love doing the animation drawings) and they adjusted our dining rotation accordingly.

Yes. Book the earliest Remy time and you should be fine as long as you don't linger over dinner. We had a 6:30 pm Remy reservation and mentioned to our server that I promised DS (who was in the kids club), that I would pick him up for the show. We were done at almost exactly 8 pm. We didn't get great seats for the show, but we made it. If I recall (and I could be wrong), Remy opens at 6 pm. Just book the earliest reservation (concierge will help you with this) and you should make the second show without issue.

Palo seemed to take forever the last time we ate there (not a big fan of Palo dinner). Again, I would book the first reservation of the evening and you should make the second show. Just tell your server you want to make the show and they should be able to help you.

You can even request a dining reservation if you are not concierge. I traveled with friends who wanted a certain rotation, she called and we got it.
