What time is it safe to head back to park after a mid-day break?

I am reworking my Easter week plan to include more midday breaks. I think this will make everyone in my family happy and it seems to be in the top 3 for busy time advice!! So, what time do most of you consider "midday"? When is it safe to head back to the park during a busy time of year?

I usually leave about 1 pm and start back around 4 pm. YMMV!:drive:

I see you were at BC last time-super easy break from EPCOT/DHS.

CSR-I would schedule FP+ late afternoon/early eve. Therefore if you are RD folks, plan on allowing enough time to be back for the evening plans. Knock out all you can SB at whatever park by lunch, then back for 3 or 4 hours of rest.

We don't always leave the park for a break, but a typical midday break for us looks like:

Arrive at RD/EMH and ride "must dos."
Lunch in the park and leave between noon and 1pm.
Swimming and relaxing at resort until 4-5pm.
Return to park between 5-6pm for dinner (if ADR in park) or eat at resort before returning to park.
At park from 5-6pm until we're tired (at least 9pm but maybe later).

I think it depends on if you are eating dinner at the park. We usually head back to the park around 5-6pm. We usually leave the park around 1pm. I like to have at least 3 hours at the resort, so depending on how transportation goes that can sometimes mean 2-5pm. We often eat at the resort quick service and then go back to the park. Mid-day breaks are soooo great during busy times. Just when it gets totally crazy at the park, you are out of there! Have fun!

We typically head to the resort after lunch sometime - maybe 1 or 2 in the afternoon. We go to the pool and/or take a nap for a few hours and head back to the parks around 6 or 7 for dinner. It varies, but that's a pretty normal Disney day for us.

It depends on the park hours of course but we are there the same time as you, I believe, and just as an example, MK is open till 1am. So we are planning on taking a break no latter than noon and returning at 6 or 7 and stay till 1am. I want everyone to be able to relax, swim, take a nap so we can make it to 1! ;)

If it is Epcot and they close at 9, I would make it a shorter break. Actually, we are wondering if we shouldn't take a break at all for that park since it doesn't open till 9am. That's 5 hours shorter than MK that week so that's about our break right there.

For parks with shorter hours, we often don't take a midday break. For those parks, we've found that a late lunch ADR often serves as an adequate "in park" break.
