What time does security open in the morning?

We will be staying at the Double Tree across the street from Universal and plan to walk over early in the morning pre park opening. Since we don’t have to wait for the parking garage to open what time does security open up so we can walk thru city walk before the park opens? Also what time does the guest relations windows open at the parks so we can talk to them about a few things before the gates open?

Another question I have is:
I read if you wear a Fanny pack you don’t have to take it off for rides except for a few of them. What rides would I have to take the Fanny pack off and get a locker?

Fanny pack needs to come off for the two rides with the tallest height requirement.

I don't know about security. We've never had to wait on security to open.

My guess is that security opens about an hour before Early Entry hours (so 2 hours before regular park opening).

Reason I believe this to be true is that if you are staying at one of the resorts that uses bus transportation (like Cabana Bay, Aventura or Endless Summer) is that they drop you off at the transportation hub, and you have to go through the same/regular security checkpoint that people who park in the park parking garages do. And buses from those resorts start running an hour before Early Entry time.

So for example, Regular park opening is say 9:00am. That means EE for one of the parks will be 8:00am and subsequently buses from those resorts will start running at 7:00am. And once you get dropped off you will need to go through security at that time.

The only rides where a fanny pack would have to be taken off are Hulk and Rip Ride Rockit. That said, it may very well get in the way of the restraints on Mummy, Gringotts, Hagrid's, and Forbidden Journey. The locker system is quite efficient, really... I'd just use them rather than wear the fanny pack.
