I am checking daily for Aulani as we might be going there for 5 nights in the end of june, and every day I check, there seems to be the very first day missing, but no others. What time of the day at 7 months do they release the inventory? Is it at midnight or 8 am?

thanks!

Umm, there is no "new stock" of inventory to be released at 7 months. All the 7-month window does is open availability to book for the non-Aulani DVC members for whatever is available.

Been doing the same... Trick is to have your dates set up online and to hit book right at 8:00 eastern standard on the dot. Worked out for me this morning.

I'm sorry... Just read that it was at 7 months... My problem was for 11. At 7 months, the only option is to wait list and pray. Sorry. I'm sure it'll work out

You can first reserve exactly 7 months out from arrival date at 8 a.m. eastern. What you are seeing now, with the first day you want disappearing before you can reserve it at 7 months out, is what has occurred in the past with Aulani for latter part of June at 7 months out. It is an indication that the number of rooms actually open to be reserved is a very small number for the first day and possibly a little more openings the days after so those are not immediately going to full, and someone else is getting the room before you because his computer is winning the race to the DVC computer.

And/or people are walking their reservations. Sure wish I had. I think it's unethical, but if I had done it, maybe I would have a reservation for my 25th anniversary like I've been planning on for five years.

Not that I'm bitter or anything. :furious:

I'm not certain exactly what you were looking to book but did you waitlist? I've had good luck with that, especially if done right at 7 months.

What is walking the reservation?

What is walking the reservation?

It is something usually done only with 11 month out reservations but some have tried it at 7. In simple terms what you do is reserve an earlier time than you actually want and then change it until you have what you want. Example:

Assume you want June 23-30. Normally you would reserve that at home resort on July 23, 11 months from date of arrival which is June 23. However, you can actually start earlier. On July 17, you could reserve June 17 to 24, thus capturing your first desired night, June 23. Next day you call MS and drop June 17 and add a night at end so your reservation is now for June 18-to 25, next day you call and drop June 18 and add night at end so you have June 19 to 26, continue that process until you have what you want, June 23-30, and thus you "walk" to the reservation you actually want. The theory is that once you reserve you are blocking everyone else from getting that one room you have for that initial time, June 17 to 24, and no one reserving after you can get that particular room for anytime from June 24 or after because they cannot reserve June 24, June 25 or later without being able to reserve that room for days before June 24 . Thus, when you call next day to get the night of June 24 and drop June 17, you should definitely be able to get it. Walking at 11 months thus has the effect of your being able to reserve the actual time you want before anyone who might follow the normal process of just trying to reserve 11 months out from date of actual arrival. At 7 months out, you have a far less chance of succeeding because owners of the resort can block out time before you ever get a chance to touch it even if walking.

I found, through observing, that walking has a degree of inaccuracy. It takes that one night of low inventory, to stop a walk, then it was ineffective. Just one night of a person with more points wanting more days and villa owners having booked all other rooms prior to seven months and walking ceases to be effective. I watched it once.

I'm trying for any studio, I wanted and was willing to spend the points for ocean view. I was dutifully online at 7:55 EST this morning refreshing like a maniac, but in the time it took me to scroll down to the second offer and click on it, it was gone. :sad1:
