What time do I line up for Star Tours FP on MM?

I would like a Star Tours FP that has a return time that's actually in the morning (and not mid-afternoon). If I'm at Magic Morning/Early Entry, I was thinking that I could do Fantasyland rides, then afterward get in line for the Star Tours FP (which I believe they start distributing at 8 am?). So my question is, what time should I line up? is 7:45 am too late?

I cannot tell you until next week ;) but one thing I have found invaluable is the Lines iPhone app which also can be viewed online at www.touringplans.com. I have been checking the FPs and lines for LM and ST the last week or two. It appears the ST FPs are running out very fast - every day by noon or 1PM - and my guess is you will need to get your ST FP first thing to have a return window in the morning.

The cost is like $10.

Sorry, you've lost me.:confused3
Are you going to Fantasyland in MK first thing and then going over to DHS to ride Star Tours? They're in different parks.

AT DisneyLAND, Star Tours is *in* DisneyLAND. :)

I'm wondering as well about the best strategy to get a Star Tours FP. I really don't want to line up early and wait in a huge line to get a FP -- what's the point in that! So, we'll do our MM and then head over that way sometime after the FP machines open. The additional bummer part is that the return time will be so late that we won't be able to get a FP for 2 hours after that. Usually when you start collecting FP's in the morning, you can collect a few because of the early return times. Not the case here.

And I don't have an iphone, so that option is out. I eagerly await your strategy Hydroguy!

You do not need an iPhone. All you need is a PC and an account with TP. You can look at the data online. I mentioned the iPhone because it makes it easier for me personally to look at the data.

I was there opening weekend of Star Tours, and we did not have MM. Our plan was just to go straight to get a FP for Star Tours right when the park opened to everyone. We were not at the very front of the rope drop, so there was a line at the FP machines when we got to them(after briskly walking). The FPs we got had a return time of 8:50-9:50. I think they said our next FP would be available at 9:50am. SO to answer your question, I think that as long as you get to the FP line before the park officially opens, you should definitely have a morning return time.

We went back as soon as we could get another FP(9:50) and our return time was 1:25pm or something like that. So you might only get one morning FP, even if you collect them in succession.

We'll have 3 mornings in the park. Our first morning is our MM and we'll be doing fantasyland. So, not sure if we should head over to get a ST FP right at 8am? Sometimes we have a hard time tearing ourselves out of FL.
The next morning is a non-MM morning, so we'll be there at rope drop and likely head right to ST to get a FP. Then maybe over to Indiana Jones.
Our last morning is a MM and we won't be in early -- we'll be lined up at the gate to get in with the masses. I'm thinking the FP machines will already have a healthy line and if we get a FP for an afternoon return time, we wouldn't even be able to use them. We may have to skip ST this day all together.

Good to know I don't need an iphone. But I also don't take my computer on vacation. I do a technology detox! :)

The cost is like $10.

That might work if anyone in our party had a cell phone, but none of us do. ;) (ETA: Just read that you can use it on a PC...)

Still, if you're going next week, I'd appreciate your opinion when you return!

I just returned from a 4 day trip, so let me tell you what our experiences were.

We did MM two days in a row, Sat and Sun. Both days we aimed to be ready to get a ST FP as soon as the park opened. If you're not aware, ST has a fat line to get a FP, throughout the day. It goes from the FP machines (the old Buzz machines), to the entrance line of Buzz, and switchbacks a few times. When park opening hits, it extends past the entrance line of Buzz, almost to the Buzz building itself. At this time, they do not use the entrance line for Buzz, and have you go directly to the building.

So. Both days we were in line for a FP no more than 10 minutes before park opening. Both days we got FPs for 8:50. I'd say there were maybe 30 people in front of me? But who knows how many tickets each had. But FYI, I was out of the FP line within about 3 minutes of park opening. They had CMs at the machines getting the FP for you (like they do at WOC).

The days we were there, we heard FP were gone by the 10 hour. On Sunday, we heard 9:15 AM. So get there fast! If you have any other questions, let me know :)

We too did MM on Saturday. We were at the security post @ 6:30, maybe 5th in line. Once through security we were maybe 10th at the ticket takers.

We walked to ST and walked on to the first run of Speeder C. We got 3 flights in until 8am, then headed to get a FP, ours was for 10am. We probably waited 5 mins in the FP line to get our tix.

The line for ST (standby) was consistently in the 90-120 min range as from park opening until close.

We were there on the 11th and 12th and had MM both days. We lined-up early on Saturday and walked straight to Star Tours and it was a walk-on. My mistake was being late for fast pass at 8:05. Very long line, but it moved fast (10 minutes as the CM's were helping at the machines). Return time was 10:30am. The second day we were further back and waited about 10 minutes to ride star tours. I was back at 7:55 and there was already a pretty good line. Took less than 5 minutes once they opened the machines (but was a big wave of people coming into the line. Our return time was 8:45.

The bad part on Saturday was the 2 hour wait for the next fast pass. Sunday was nice to pick-up an Indianna Jones fast pass before heading over to DCA and LM.

Let me see if I understand. At opening the ST FP line has a queue that starts at the Buzz building? Is it just as long on non MM days? Is it clear that is what the line is? I want to go straight there at opening so trying to make sure I don't miss it. Don't you hate it when we walk right past a long line before you realize that's the one you want? ;)

The FP line opens at the beginning of "Regular Park Hours" (not MM hours -so no FPs available during MM hours).

The line starts just beyond the enterance to Buzz (it uses the old Buzz FP machines). When busy, the line will overflow the immediate chained queue area and run down the entire left side of Buzz, past the Astro Orbitor and sometimes reaching the Hub. The overflow wasn't signed in any way I could see - I walked past it the first time.

Hey Hydro  Can't wait to see your experience next week as we will be there in 5 weeks and your posts are always soooo helpful. If you haven't heard it enough...you are the BEST!:)

Thank you everyone for posting your experiences! They were very helpful! :thanks:

Thank you for clarifying that ST FP's are not available during MM.
Does that mean that at 8am I start walking over to the ST FP or should I already be there by 8am? Assuming that I've been in FL for MM.

Thanks for all the help!:goodvibes

Get there a bit before 8am so as to get in line before the crowd of guests behind the rope drop get there.

Oh, silly me!
Just reread the beginning of the post,be there about 5-10 min before park opening.
Got it! :thumbsup2

I wondering if we should be doing ST before Dumbo and Peter Pan for our MM??

And on the non-MM morning, should we try to ride ST right away? Or grab a FP right away?

A set strategy is a big mystery when something is so new.
