in the morning. I have some early reservations at Poly, CR, and GF and was wondering if we would be able to get from the fort to them in time or do we need to drive. Also what time do they stop transporting from the hotels at night? As many times as we have stayed in the fort I should know this, but we have never used these boats that early in the morning.

The Resort launch starts at 6:45 am ish. The buses to parks and DTD stop 1 hour or so after closing.

We'll be there in 24 days! What time does the boat leave FW to MK in the morning (MK opens at 9a)? If we stay for Spectro, can we take the boat back to FW or do we need to grab a bus?

THANKS
Laura

The direct boat to MK starts approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour before opening. If you have an early breakfast at MK (before opening), then you'll need to take the resort launch to Contemporary then walk over to MK.

The boats run approximately 1 hour after the park closes unless the weather makes the water unsafe. If that is the case, they'll crank up buses.

We were just there last week. The boats to MK did not start until 1/2 hour prior to park opening. However the resort boat started at 8:00 AM...we took that boat to the Contemporary and then took the monorail to MK. We still made rope drop however, there was a woman and her daughters who had an 8:10 reservation for a princess breakfast at MK and did not get there in time.

You will need to take the boat, busses to not run to/from MK - FW

I think this is incorrect.

The resort boat (contemporary/Wilderness Lodge) starts at 6 or 6:30am. We got on it around 7am on 2/1 (had it all to ourselves) to make a 7:40 ADR at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.

Yep the small launch starts at 6:45 am. I have been on that first launch many, many times. Before I had my camper, I tent camped at the Fort and didn't keep food items, so I often went to either the WL or Contemporary for a quick breakfast.

ok- just so I have this straight.... we can catch an early launch to Contemporary then walk to MK for early morning entry for BBB or breakfast?
Any idea how much time we should allow? We have 8 am reservations.
What great info you guys give out, very helpful. Last visit was 12 years ago.

That's correct!!! I would say about an hour to factor in wait time. In the morning, the boat actually runs to WL, then Contempory, BUT if it is early enough and you are the only ones on the boat, the driver can opt to take you straight to the Contemporary.

It depends on how fast you walk! The walk from the Contemporary dock to the MK turnstiles is about 3/4 mile. Also, remember that the walk from the Settlement Depot bus stop to the end of the dock is about 1000 ft. So you will have well over a mile in your legs before even entering the MK. Factor in an average of 20-30 minutes waiting for the boat and transiting the lake. Also remember that the internal buses at the Fort start running about 6:30-6:45 too. And one last thing, be aware that the resort launch is not roll-on handicapped accessible like the MK Cruiser.

Hope it helps.

Great info- that's what I love about this site. From Tee Time Kenny to random questions, everyone has such super tips.
Thanks,
Jenny

31 days and counting.....

Has anyone taken a cab from FW to the MK? We have an early dining reservation in June, so I thought a taxi would be an easy answer to get to the park early. :)

Not good for Magic Kingdom as cabs aren't allowed where the Disney buses and boats are allowed. You would be dropped at the TTC, then have to take the monorail over.

If you really want to take a cab, then take one to the Contemporary, then walk over.

The cab would pick you up at the Outpost.

In this case, I really don't think you would save any time.
