What time can you get off ship in port?

hi! My family and I our take our very first cruise ever!! so for you experienced cruisers my question is if your itinerary says 7:45-4 in a port what's the earliest I can expect to get us off the ship? We have a busy day planned and don't want to waste time. Specifically St. Thomas on the Fantasy

That's an approximate time, you realize. Tides and weather could delay actual docking. Or the ship could dock early if it appears the weather will be worse later.

Don't know if that's the all ashore time, or the arrival time into the port. The night before the Cruise Director will announce (just prior to the big show in the WDT) what time they plan (if all goes as planned) to allow everyone to get off the ship.

One note, getting off the ship as soon as the all ashore is announced, usually has really long lines. If you wait 1/2 hour-45 minutes you'll just walk right off.

Thanks! This is super helpful I was hoping "all ashore" was a firm time. We have to be about 20 minutes away via taxi ride by 8:30 am. Sounds like this is a bad plan then?
