Could someone please, please post a picture of this lanyard everyone is talking about that we'll use for KTTWC. I'm thinking its one thing, and now its starting to sound like something else. I know I can get it Walmart, also on the ship, but I just want to know exactly WHAT THIS THING IS!

A lanyard is that long, necklace-like thing that some companies hang employee badges on. My DP has several from work, and of course we each have one from DCL. You can pin your trading pins on it.

I am feeling a bit inarticulate now, so I'm going upstairs to the kitchen to drown myself in cookies.

thanks goodfairie, I would still like a picture though. Does anyone know if theres somewhere we can buy the DCL lanyard before we cruise?

Check the DIS Shop for a picture of a lanyard. You should find the link at the bottom of the DIS Boards Home Page

OK thanks mickeyboat NOW I know what a lanyard is. I really want a disney or dcl lanyard so I'll search around for it. I am assuming on the hook part that hangs you would put your KTTWC in some waterproof type of holder correct? And I searched on ebay for lanyard and they show mostly pins for the lanyard, sooooo I guess I'm gonna have to start buying some pins for my DD to show off, is that how it works? thanks so much

There are actually two (three if size counts) lanyard thingys.

1) the standard laynard with clear plastic "envelope" that you can slide one or two cards into. These have the straps that you can insert pins in. You would not want to take this swimming with you.

2 & 3) The watertight box on a "cord". Two sizes, the small size you can fit 3 or 4 credit card sized cards into or the large size which looks like it could hold a pack of cigarettes (so it can hold many cards, some cash and a chap stick). Since these are water tight you can take them swimming with you. the chord that goes around your neck is adjustable so it works really well. When we go snokeling we usually wear a tee shirt and the box goes inside of that.

All of these you can purchase on the ships. It is about the only deal you can get on souveneers (they are about $6 each). They have the DCL logo on them. The boxes are white or red or blue.
