I know they don't apply to DVC, which is why I am unfamiliar with them. But I read so much about Disney pin codes. What are they and how do people get them?

they are specials/promotions that disney sends out to specific people that only apply to the people that get them. *(i.e. right now some people are getting a pin code for free dining for November.

hope this helps

Yes, the Pin code is a lot like a coupon code for online shopping.

In my experience, the best way to start getting more pin codes, is buy DVC (but then you don't need them ;). )

There's gotta be more to it than that. In all my years of going, Pre and post-DVC, I have never received a pin code. There's got to be more to the story.

It's based on them having your information and knowing how to target you directly. Likely, having made a cash reservation through CRO. The folks who I've known to get them are all folks who've stayed on property through standard reservations.

The one time I got one, it was to my e-mail with a different name on it :confused3

I was always curious if Disney would honor it, but again, with DVC didn't really care.

Pin code deals are usually very similar to the in room deals you'll see for booking before you leave. "40% of Deluxe, 30% of moderate" or similar. Sometimes they're at a slightly more busy time than general public deals are. So, as the poster above said, you might get November instead of September.

The Pin codes used to be postal mailed on post cards, but I think they are now e-mail.

They say to sign up at Disneyworld.com and do things like asking for the vacation planning DVD's and the custom maps, and signing up for mail / promotion lists.

I just called to see if a pin code is associated with my name (and I did free dining for our trip in December). I have never gotten a email. I do get post card every now and them.

My GRANDDAUGHTER got one over a year ago...when she was about 2 years old. :lmao: Go figure. :confused3

They are marketing codes that require a PIN to use it. Used to be they just mailed out the codes but people shared them and therefore they had to change that.

DVC members have been known to get them, rarely, we have gotten a few but since they really don't need to market to members to come, they are not on the list.

The formula as to who gets them is a marketing only secret, but based on what I have personally experienced it is those that have only been once, those that live in certain parts of the country, which seems to be mostly the NE, those that request a planning video, those that go online and plan a trip and save it but don't book it.

Strictly a marketing situation coming from Disney Resorts marketing.

We vacationed on a cash reservation two times before we bought DVC.... and never received anything.
One trip was in 2006, the next in 2008 - and we never received anything! No bounce back offers, no pin codes, no mail.... nothing!

Had we received an offer in 2007 we likely would have booked!

But now with DVC, we REALLY don't get anything in terms of offers and such..... except to buy more points! Go figure! :scratchin

DIsney does not reward loyalty. If you stay with them you are actually less likely to get discounts. Another reason I am off site when not using points. Other hotel chains reward me for loyalty
