What strange thing does your pet do?

This has been a fun thread, thanks OP!

Our cat Little loves to lay on the top of his tower, but he always lays upside down. Every night when we get out of the shower (not together), as soon as he hears the water turn off he opens the bathroom door and comes to the side of the tub and waits to be picked up. If you don't pick him up quick enough he will climb your leg. My husband says he must love the smell of soap. He is very affectionate in our downstairs, but when he is upstairs he is aloof. He also loves to get into everything! Very strange and funny cat. Here are pictures of him in the front pocket of my suitcase :lmao:

Gets in there the dog says, I'll let you out he says....

This is a GREAT thread!

agnes!

My black lab hids his toys under the blanket and then digs for them. I guess he likes to play hide and go seek with them. He also plays volleyball where he will actually bat a soccer sized ball back and forth with you. My other lab the chocolate is too busy trying to get all the attention to ome up with something unique to do.

But I think the craziest thing he does is what we call his "puppy laps", he just takes off full speed and does these laps around the house until he tires himself out, he's been doing it since he was a pup and a year later he still does it once in a while. Our older border just watches him run, like "yeah ok".

Ours does that too. She'll start playing with the other dog and then will start running circles around her -- the circles get bigger and bigger until she's running these speedy laps around the entire house. And the sofa is no hindrance. At first she'll run in front of it, then on top of it, then behind it.

There are so many other things he does that I could go on about, but the best thing, in my opinion, is what he does for Lauri. He is so in tune with her that he can sense an upcoming flare from her autoimmune disease and warn her in enough time that she can make sure she's taken care of. He was also responsible for saving her from a critical health risk - I say he saved her life - when he sensed a problem with her that neither of us realized. Lauri though she was having a flare and was in bed. Reilly wouldn't leave her, spent the day with his head on her leg. He wouldn't allow me to move him, take him out. He wouldnt eat or drink. After this went on into the second day, we thought "what if this is more than a flare?" We got an emergency appointment with her doctor. He did some blood work and it was flagged as critical by the lab by the time we got home. The doctor said that had we waited too long, she risked heart failure.

He is definitely a blessing to both of us

That is just amazing. You hear all the time about dogs who have detected their owner's cancer, and dogs who can predict seizures. How on earth do they know? If I were a religious person I'd say dogs are nature's miracle (no, not the spray stuff :teeth:).

This is a priceless and entertaining thread! I love our critters!

My lab, Holly, must hear us pull in the driveway, because every day we are greeted at the door by her, with her tail wagging her body, and her mouth stuffed full of "gifts" for us. Yesterday, I pulled a water bottle out of her mouth. . . which was followed by a Knee-hi that I had tied into a headband, and a cotton ball! Where she gets this stuff, I have no idea!

:rotfl2:

Kay will walk between the floor-length drapes and the sliding glass door and come on through under the drape - she looks like a little tan nun. I'll have to take a photo of it someday.

Dev likes to examine the insides of Kay and Malc's mouths. He is a little budding dentist (altohugh sometimes when he is playing with Kay, he tries to be a little gynecologist).

My dogs can definitely hear when my dad comes, and only him. We live on a very busy street, so cars are coming and going all day long. But when it's his truck, they run to the door and just sit and wag their tails. They freak out and bark when it's anybody else but my dad. I think they know they have to be more gentle with him.

They also all have a good concept of time, I think. Around 3, they get really anxious because they know the kids will be home soon. Then again around 5, they start acting up because DH is due home. It really throws them off when he's away on a business trip.

Our kitten plays fetch like a dog. Haven't come across many cats that do it - they might here and there, and maybe once or twice, but ours will chase it, pick it up, bring it back, drop it at our feet, and be ready to go again for many, many throws and does it almost every day - like a dog. It is uber cute. :)

My retriever doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. It's my lovebird that does. The vet called them his "quirks." LOL! :lmao: He won't touch his food until I remove all the sunflower seeds and some other thing in there. :) And he also bathes in his little drinking dish and drinks from his larger bathing dish. LOL! :lmao: :lmao: Too cute!

Our kitty, Woody, who died at the age of almost 17 around Easter, used to play Fetch, too. He would only do it in our bedroom, though. I'd throw a balled up piece of paper, and he'd chase it and bring it back to me- he could go on for 30 minutes or more!! So cute!

Our dog Grace has several things she does that is strange. She will not eat off the floor. If it touches the floor, it is not going in her mouth. She loves to get a hold a pretzel or piece of cereal and will toss it in the air and roll all over it, but never will eat it. She loves to steal my daughters webkinz and hides them all over the house. She loves to suck on the heads of stuffed animals. I have wet, smelly stuffed animals laying around everywhere.:scared: She stole a slice of pizza at my daughters slumber party and was shoving a slice down the side of the couch trying to hide it.  The list goes on and on....:lmao:

Oh wow, a dog that won't eat off the floor? Unheard of! :rotfl2:

Mine are vacuum cleaners! Every once in a while I'll take one of them to my dad's and the floor ends up cleaner after they're done. :teeth:

I have quite a few pets but, I think my tonkinese are the ....most unique. I have one that opens cabinet doors, crawls inside and likes to surprise you. She won't drink water from a bowl...it must be running from the faucet. My other tonk likes to take baths. She climbs in the tub and lays on my stomach..... on her back.

Nope, she won't eat off the floor. My oldest DD spilled some cheese crackers on the floor. She didn't feel like cleaning them up so she left them hoping Grace would clean them up for her. Next morning I was yelling at her for leaving them. I heard her whisper under her breath "dumb dog, everyone else's dog would have cleaned them up.":lmao:

I also forgot to add that I never have to trim her nails because she bites them off.:confused3

apirateslifeforme-your cocker is beautiful!

Thank you!

I just thought of another thing she does. She eats ice cream - but only with a spoon. I don't know who started her on that, but one time I made up a bowl for her, put it down in front of her, and started eating my own. I noticed that she sat down, stared at her bowl, then looked at me, then looked back at the bowl. My mother said, "She's waiting for you to get a spoon and feed her" :sad2:

My male shepherd wiggles the door knob when he wants in or out. Don't know how he picked that up as his sister barks. And she does have an 'Out' bark and a 'In' bark.

Recently I adopted what looks to be a cross between a Jack Russell and a shepherd. She's in love with the Polaris pool sweeper. She can hear it when it kicks on at night and insists on going outside. Sits and watches it the entire hour it's on. When on occassion it surfaces she'll run over and yell her head off. Each night she comes in drenched from the sweeper's high pressure tail.

One of my parent's dogs, Alfie, has really bad gas and everytime he lets one slip, he walks around in circles looking so confused like...WHERE DID THAT COME FROM???? :rotfl:

My black lab is obsessed with rocks. He will dig them up, put them in a pile and just lick them and lick them and lick them.:confused3 He has done this since he was a puppy.

I had to laugh at the stories of the dogs that run full tilt around the house.

Eragon does this, and he willsometimes misjudge and bounce off the walls with his head. I always joke that the dog has no pain recpetors in his body, it doesn't faze him at all.

The real fun one is when both he and Matthias decide to run in circles when I let them out. I will typically play along, turning with them so I don't get tangled in the leash. I put a stop to it when they start running in opposite directions. They have tied me up many times!
