what steak do you recommend at yachtsman?

QUOTE=itradehilton;37630570]The Yachtsman was the best restaurant of the entire trip. Wow, service and a great chef. It is certainly worth the two dining credits per person. We loved it so much we canceled our 2nd reservation for the California Grill and booked the Yachtsman for our last night also.

Aging meat

We were seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. The hostess walked us over to our table where we soon met our server, Alex, and his assistant. Yes, two people would be assisting our table. We never waited long for anything. We ordered drinks and wanted to look over the menu before ordering wine tonight. The server had the chef come out to go over the menu with DH and Little Yoda. Most items were naturally gluten free but the fries and potato gratin would have to be substituted with a different potato dish. The chef gave them two different choices for potatoes. After deciding on our apps and entry (the chef would come out later to go over dessert) we decided to get the suggested bottle of wine.

Great wine with steak.

To start the meal they brought out a basket of regular bread with butter and roasted garlic and fresh GF rolls and another butter plate for the GF rolls so there would be no cross contamination.

Appetizers

DH wanted the Black and Blue beef tartare so the chef said, "Why don't I slice up one of the rolls and toast it to go with your tartare." Nice GF crustini to go with the tartare. DH was impressed. Little Yoda and the fish both ordered the Tomato and Mozzarella salad, very fresh mozzarella cheese. I enjoyed the cheese course.

Main Course

For the Main course DH ordered the Cowboy Steak. 20 once bone in rib eye. DH likes his meat red and I do mean barely dead. He orders almost everything rare. They had to leave off the fried onions to make it GF and change the potatos to garlic mashed potatoes. The rest of the family ordered the NY strip steak. They age this meat for a week and it is their signature dish. This was the best steak I have ever eaten. I thought my strip was great then DH gave me a bite of his rib eye OMG talk about melting in your mouth. I swear it did.

Dessert

Dessert continued to be just as good as the rest of the meal. DH and the Fish had the creme brulee with fresh berries while Little Yoda had the ice cream with wings of chocolate pieces. I decided to try the Pistachio Trio, three little tastes all very good.

Overall the service at the Yachtsman out shined every other restaurant we dined in at Disneyworld. :thumbsup2

The next morning DH had his leftover Rib Eye with eggs in the room.[/QUOTE]

We tried the Yachtsman for the first time on our last trip. DS and I had the filet with mashed, and DH had the strip steak with the cheddar gratin. I tried DH's steak and I would say that I do not hesitate to reccomend it at all. Everything that passed our lips at the Yachtsman was delicious!

Has anyone ever split the 28 oz.Porterhouse between 2 adults and then ordered extra sides? This seems to be a great way to save some dining credits...

They are serving beef tartar at the steakhouse? Omg, I can't wait for our dinner there.

Say, itradehilton, what are those lovely "pearls" on top of the tomatoes?

The filet mignon for sure!

Oh, and get a side of the mac and cheese...YUMpopcorn::

We love the Yachtsman. Our typical meal includes the Lobster Bisque appetizer, the Filet (usually accompanied by Zen of Zin Zinfandel) and Creme Brulle. And the pull apart onion rolls are to die for.

I love their ribeye! If you are a fan of ribeye's then this one won't disappoint! :cloud9:

I really like the filet mignon. Soft and tender sooooo yummy. You really can't go wrong with any of them..

Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed as long as you choose the truffle mac and cheese as your side dish. It is delicious.

When I ate there earlier this month I had a charcuterie plate that was really, really good. It had duck sausage, venison pate, beef tartar, two types of cheese, and accompaniments. I don't remember the accompaniments but hot potato salad was one. I could have made a meal on just this appetizer.:cloud9: I had the lamb as an entree though and it was really good too.

I had the same a few weeks ago, I wasn't overly keen on the grain mustard accompaniment that came with the duck sausage but it was a very nice starter nonetheless. The pairings with the cheese really worked well too as I'm not a huge fan of strong cheese, but they paired it with lemon brittle which took the edge off.

The tartar was really nice on it as well.
