what state has the highest ranking highschools?

There was a commercial that stated that NJ had the highest percentage of high school grads that went on to college.

I've heard the same thing. I've also heard/read very good things about Connecticut.

Have to say that Mass does have some fine school systems and our town is on the Money mag. list of best places to live...#36. But not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. We still have a ton of kids from our town that go to private schools. And we have what is considered a 'terrific' school system...always ranks right up there in all the 'tests'.

The link you gave was based on how many kids took AP tests. Well, a school could give EVERY student an AP test, it doesn't mean they are a good school.

Schools don't give AP tests. Students choose to take them. It doesn't necessarily mean they are in a good school, but statistically, odds are they are in a good school if a lot take AP tests.

It's not a perfect indicator, but frankly nothing is. Schools are a local matter. Comparing on a statewide basis is rather meaningless.

Actually, a lot of schools do give AP tests to all their students. They use those as a measuring device like a standardized test so it is schools like these that skew results on surveys like the one in question here. Some schools give AP tests to all jr's and sr's no matter if they are "qualified" to take them or not.
