What "special" things to buy...

Don't forget about what to do for the kids after the trip.

As adults we make ourselves photo albums, but the kids love to have their own photo albums too. After my last trip to DisneyLand with a friend and their family, I found some nice princess kid photo albums at my local department store, and put my color printer to work. The kids LOVED to have their own personalized albums. The hard part was sorting through all the pictures and dividing them up between the kids. Some photos would go in all 4 kids albums and others were specific to a certain child.

That was 3 years ago and the kids still comment about their albums.

For my upcoming trip to DisneyWorld (different kid). I am debating between a photo album or a digital picture frame.

I am a big scrapbooker, so we are definititely going to do this. We have already bought our albums for each child and we are going to use this as our scrapbook and autograph book together. I was thinking about having some special die cuts prepared for the characters ahead of time, but I think that might be too hard. We won't be sure of who we are going to see....

Great ides. Keep 'em coming.

We'll be there in August for the 2nd year in a row.

Hit Walmart or the dollar store and get some disposable rain ponchos.

Pick up some misters. We got MistyMate misters at BJs at 3/$15-- I saw them there the other day. They were a tripsaver in the humidity!!!

Think about placing an order with www.gardengrocer.com for bottled water and park munchies.

On the recommendation of people here, I got Teva Mush flip flops at www.sierratradingpost.com They were the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. This year, each member of my family is bringing a pair down, particularly for the AK day-- Kali River Rapids are a guaranteed soaker!!!

Every time you have the urge to buy something else, hit the Disney store and get a gift card instead. You'll appreciate having the money to spend when you get there. To be honest, Disney provides a lot; you don't have to go crazy making it "special" beyond what's already there.

I'd heard they have Disney-themed Mr. Potato Head pieces at some of the WDW stores, to include special hands. Does anyone know if these are still available?

We're going in Dec and I just picked up a Mr. Potato at Wal-mart for the Easter basket but thought that would be a fun thing to bring...enhance...and play with on our long flight home.

SBM - Do as your name says, take lots of pictures then make sure you make a scrap book. We have several of disney, fam. vacations........ It will be some of those memories you capture on film(Ha ha) that they can look back in 10/20/30 year and say. you know my p's were alright!!!

If I may make a recomendation, Creative Memories. Not that my wife sells it, it's quality through and through.

For our first trip to WDW ever (I've wanted to go my entire life):cool1:, what special things could I do for my kiddos. (I really think I am a lot more excited than all of my family combined.) So far this is what I have thought of (I have spent hours and hours pouring over all the of the boards for ideas:
1. Tie-Dye shirts for all us (haven't made, but will this summer)
2. Guide to the Magic for Kids for each kiddo.
3. Autograph book (haven't made this, but will this summer)
4. Buy stuffed Mickey, Minnie, and Donald for each kid ahead of time from Disney store (2 for $20).
5. Lanyards for each kiddo and have started purchasing ebay lots of tradeable pins.
6. Everyday I will have chocolate nuggets wrapped in special characters made of paper from a talented DISigner for them everyday.
7. Glow in the dark stuff for the night time events.
What other "special" things could I do for these guys? I want to make this a fantastic trip for them because I don't know when we will be able to make it back.
Oh yeah, we will be staying off-site at Windsor Hills in a 3br Townhome.

Thanks!!

Try to get to DTD on day one or two and go to the kitchen stuff shop (by the Ghiradelli ice cream store). Get a "mickey form" (they have them in silicone and stainless)....then you can make mickey pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast in your condo several mornings!!

A few years ago when I was reading these boards I saw someone mention Tinkerbell leaving gifts each night for the kids. I don't know that your kids are the right age but I did this for mine then and they must have been 3 and 1. One of my now 5 year olds, mentioned a month or so ago she couldn't wait to see what Tinkerbell was going to bring her. Whoops wasn't planning on that this trip.

We used it as an incentive to behave during the day. Tink was watching (like Santa) and if you were good would bring you a reward at night and leave it in the room. Most of them were simple dollar store Disney items but they loved them. Plus it helped us keep down the asking for things while we were at the parks. One day we saw what light up thing they each wanted from the parks and that was their gift from Tink. Some days it was a simple princess or pooh figurine from Deals that cost a dollar. Whatever it was they always enjoyed it. We did have one of them as their autograph book and pen too.

Have a great trip!

Glo sticks/bracelets are good to have for the night time parades/fireworks. Buy them ahead of time rather than paying Disney prices at the parks.

I found the fans at Walmart in with the regular household fans- but I looked everywhere else first so if you can find someone ask- but the ones I bought don't use batteries- you just squeeze the handle.
