Right now, my parents have digital cable in our house and I'm trying to decide if I want that in my room or to get Satellite. What do you have and what do you like/dislike about it??

I've had Dish Network for 4 years.

My one complaint is that they're always involved in these silly disputes. Once, I lost MTV and Nickelodeon for a few weeks. Then, I lost Lifetime for over a month. A week after that, they raised my rate by $2.00. But, I've never considered changing.

I have regular cable not digital. My company offers digital cable but it requires a set top box for each TV. I hate having to order 4 additional set top boxes for TVs that are already cable ready so I pass on the digital cable.

I have directtv, but switching back to Comcast cable on 7/15. In the last week alone, my signal has gone out a half a dozen times because of weather in the area, plus I only switched in the first place to get NFL Sunday Ticket and didn't watch much of it last year, so I'm not renewing it.

For only about $10 less a month I get 200 channels including HBO, Showtime, Encore and Starz, a DVR, HD service, OnDemand, plus it reduces my price of my broadband internet service by $20.00.

To get all this through Directtv it would be about $115, but I can get it through cable for $105, plus like I mentioned it reduces my internet from 65 to 45. So after the discount I'm paying $150 a month for cable and internet instead of $180 a month, a $30 savings.

We've been with Dish Network since 1998!

My sister and her DF are switching from digital cable to DirecTV for that NFL pass, but I told her all the things I've heard about the signal going out, and how much more expensive it is. I think I might go with digital cable for the reason you stated above, and it's cheaper like you said. we have DSL (which I HATE..talk about losing the signal all the time) but it's a contract but when I move out, I'll use cable internet for sure.

We have Digital Cable and love it. The signal never goes out. We had Dish Network for a few years and living in the south when the weather got bad we would always lose signal. Since we don't live in or near a huge city we also couldn't get any local channels. When the weather is bad I want to be able to see whats going on and the Weather Channel.

I hardly ever lose my Dish Network signal. In the 4 years, I can remember losing it twice - both times during really bad lightening storms. Snow, rain, wind...nothing makes this thing go out. I must have it in a really good spot or something. I get the Boston locals and the NH locals, too. I don't have movie channels, but I have the highest package and it's only $65./month for 2 TVs. My parents have Direct TV and they love it. I just picked Dish because they were offering the best deal at the time for free installation and 3 months free. :)

DISH!!! We like it much better than Road Runner...always had problems. We do lose the signal when bad storms are on the way - but I prefer to shut things off then anyway.....so am not missing much...

We have Comcast digital cable. My Mom loves the On Demand. We don't have their Broadband, we both work or retired from Verizon. Employee discount on DSL. Can't wait for the new FIOS to get run in my neighborhood and for the new TV service to come along.

Just regular cable with the extended channels but no HBO or other movies likewise.

I may consider switching to digital cable or dish tv -- Direct TV is about $10 cheaper and about 60 more channels --- why I ask myself I haven't done this sooner??????????????

Hard to teach old dog new tricks I guess.

I know some people who have dish TV and they've said that they'll never go back to regular cable.

We love our DirecTV because we got the "free" DVR with it! We hardly watch anything live anymore. Only drawback on dish is that when we get a severe storm, it tends to go out.

Regular cable and a TiVO. I don't watch the extra stuff digital cable offers and it's cheaper for me to get a TiVO for my DVR service then to have the digital cable and their DVR service.

Since we live out in the boonies we really don't have a lot of choices for cable. We do have Direct TV with TIVO which we love. The only issue we ever have is losing the signal during a storm or if ice forms on the dish in the winter. This really does piss me off and then I usually have to find out what happened on whatever show I am watching from my friends.

We have DirecTV. We have found there to be no problem with the picture due to weather. Given our package, it's much, much cheaper than the Comcast digital cable we had before.

Plus we hated the cable modem, much prefer DSL and, later, fiber optic cable.

And that's how Baskin Robbins survives - all those flavors.

I have had dish and I now have direct. I prefer direct because of a better dual line DVR and NFL sunday ticket.

We have had Direct TV for years, probably about 8 years now. Before Direct TV we had Primestar which was bought out by Direct TV which is why we switched over....we like it a lot.. :happytv:
