What sort of nationality mix is there?

I was wondering as I've been scouring the european holiday dates to make sure there aren't loads of school kids off at the same time.

I'm assuming the majority are French (for obvious reasons), but what sort of nationalites did you come across when you were there?

Depends when you go - most times there are a good amount of French but when we went in the second week of Ocober the vast majority were Spanish as I believe there were a few public holidays during that week.

I've seen people from almost every nationality and that's one of the reasons I love it as I love seeing people from different parts of the world and how differently people act, or not in some situations.

The breakdown given at the 2007 annual meeting was as follows :)

France 44%
United Kingdom 16%
Benelux 13%
Spain 11%
Germany 3%
Italy 3%
Rest of the world 10%

We heard all sorts of nationalities there the other week. Even some Greeks (I speak Greek so was surprised). I really think all the nationalities is one of the real joys of a trip to DLRP.

Annie

There was also a large international conference of some sort going on when we were there in early October - groups of attendees from many nations, and we were sitting next to some of the Turkish contingient at lunch in the Rainforest Cafe.

Ouch! This is why we are always the last ones to get special offers... we really are a small minority

Hopefully you'll be a target market in the future, just as Spain was this year :goodvibes

I stayed at the Marriott Village during the last week of September. I came across a few Brits but almost everybody I encountered at the hotel were...American...strangely enough. I encountered some Americans at the parks but I think that the breakdown in this thread is pretty accurate. Mostly French and a large number of British...I think that this diversity (along with amazing attractions!) made this my favorite Disney Resort by far!

Hope so, sometimes i feel like Cinderella ugly sister lol :rotfl2: (not just for DLP but for a lot of other things )

Hi Elena, where are you from?? I am from Siena :goodvibes

Ahh bless you Giulia, look at it instead that you are one of the privileged few. :grouphug:

Germany 3%

Ouch two!
I can not believe this. Only 3%, some years ago the number was 6%. We are 82 million compared to Spain 45 million and Italy 59 million. But only 3% of the guests are from Germany. Like ElenaP said; now I don’t wonder anymore why they stopped the 1 day 1 night free offers whilst people in the UK and France still get them.

Maybe the number of German visitors will rise in the future now that we have some new very fast train connections from German cities to Paris.

But DLPR also needs to attract more German guests with some special offers. :rolleyes1

Just yesterday I decided that DLP is my next Disney goal, but looking through the threads on here it seems that Americans at DLP are far and few between. I'm not as young and brave as I once was, and the thought of being thousands of miles away from home unable to communicate (even after 4 years of French in school...but of course that was twenty years ago) has me a bit uneasy about my new-found fascination with going there.

Can anyone help give me a little courage to seriously contemplate this trip? Are the shows performed in different languages at different times? Is English on all of the signage in addition to French?

This summer the DCL Disney Magic was in the Med so a lot of Americans came over and went to DLP as an Add on either pre or post cruise.

The Magic is back in the USA and will not return in 08.

I have booked to go in May next year to DLP, and DL California in August.

You really don't need to be fluent in French to enjoy DLRP. As is advised in many other thread if you can manage the basics, please, thank you, hello etc. this will help. But most, if not all, CM speak very good English, some shows are performed in French and English but even when there is no English translation it does not spoil any of the enjoyment.

And if you are really bothered about being there on your own, see if another DISer will be there at the same time and if there is I am sure that they would be happy to meet you for coffee during your stay. Go on give it a try you know you want to.
